That I've watched live? Cotto - Margarito 1. That was the first fight I'd sat up till 5am to watch, and it was so worth it. Makes up for all the stinkers I've seen, like Hopkins - Dawson.
Marco Antonio Barrera. Because of his heart and passion for boxing. ** Edit; I thought this said who is your favorite fighter. My favorite fight on the other hand is probably one of the Barrera-Morales trilogy, and Duran vs SRL 1.
Barrera-Morales 1. Always has been really. Carbajal-Gonzalez and Duran-Barkley had short periods of being my favourite fights too.
Bowe/Golota II: Even though he was getting the **** beat out of him every round and would have been stopped if not for Golota imploding, he finally showed the heart he was missing the rest of his career. Lewis/Briggs: My favorite one-sided fight. This fight just represents what a beast Lennox was. The last legitimate knockdown, not the one that stopped the fight, but the one before it; Briggs is on ***** street but throws two punches. Lennox just barely moves his head, hands at his side, smiles at Briggs, and throws his right putting Briggs back on the floor. Good stuff. Lennox's overhand right is my all-time favorite punch.
That's a good pick. I think that era gets ignored a bit too much, which is a shame. Sanchez was such a good fighter.
If I can jump in,I had Leonard winning for several years but always valued Hugh McIlvanney's opinion that Hagler won.For me that fight is a classic case of a fight where there is an irrefuteable argument for both guys having a genuine shout.Unlike Marquez-Pacquaio,where I just can't make a case for Marquez losing. To the Leonard fight,I always have a hard time scoring subjectively when a particular favourite is involved, and have found many times that my cards were way wide in the cold light of day and Leonard was my all time #1 but I think there is a strong argument for him deserving the nod, just like there is for Hagler.
Leonard won the fight because he understood ring psycology better than anyone at the time, his flurries and the crowds excitement influenced the judges, and gave SRL the win. I've never watched it with the sound off, but if I did I think that I'd have Hagler winning.
