For me it was hearing all the news coverage after Lewis got robbed of the undisputed title against Holyfield in their first fight. I just remember wondering how the hell it could be possible for a dodgy decision to take place in a boxing ring. atsch

Rushing home from school at dinnertimes to watch Audley in the Olympics. I have no idea why I started watching it but enjoyed it and have been a fan of boxing ever since. I must have been 12 at the time.
I remember watching boxing from 6 years old but couldn't tell you about the bouts etc, my first real memory has to be Benn McClellan , what a fight, Amazing
Corrr......i think it will be Tyson because he was released from Prison and the hype was a madness. I can remember watching Golota-Bowe I with my dad on a Sunday morning. I knew Bowe was good and Golota was beating **** out of him...then i watched as he chucked fight away...i can remember even back then as a 5 or 6 year old thinking ''what a ****ing idiot''....
My next door neighbour (god rest his soul) was THE VERY FIRST PERSON that i ever seen when i was a kid that was into Boxing. Not Football, Cricket, Horse Racing etc, just Boxing. So i'd say that the first memory i have is of him Just really being a fan of the sport and always having the sport on and me catching glimpses of it as a kid. That's how i first got introduced to the sport, through him watching it and me being friends with his son and hearing about the fights, actually hearing them on the tv (next door neighbour) and like i said, catching the odd glimpse of them as well. Also up there, is when, around the late 80's when Mike Tyson was just ruining everyone. Again, i was only a kid, but everyone was just saying his name. From then you knew that he WAS BOXING to most regular joe's. First memorable fight was Benn/Mcclellan as i watched it live on tv when i was about 10/11.
Hearing that Bruno had lost to Tyson (the second time) and seeing him coming out of airport on the news afterwards with shades on. I remember that pretty well Also hearing that Holyfield had beaten Tyson (the first time). That was quite a shock. As a kid I had this idea of Mike Tyson as a mythical warrior who can't lose
I am certain I ma not making this up Hearns V Hagler in 1985 was on ITV late at night. i watched it on black and white TV. I think I was 6 at the time. I still don't count myself as much more than a casual fan. If pressed, i could remember the name of the movie that was on beforehand. It had the Pet Shop boys as part of the sound track if I am making it up. I genuinely don't want to know. EDIT* I am not sure if it was live or not. I certainly didn't know the result.
