For me it comes down to H2H, and i've hummed and hawed but find it very hard to separate Fury and Usyk.

Prior to last night I had Fury as CLEAR no 1, and would have taken him to clearly decision AJ - albeit in a different fashion to Usyk.

Fury is yet another level in size on from Joshua, and he uses his size and weight VERY well. He also has a decent jab, is much better on his feet than AJ, and has better ring IQ, so it draws things closer and Usyk has a bigger task than he did against AJ imo.

But then this is nothing different to what i've been saying all along - Usyk was a mare style matchup for Joshua; but Fury is not a great style match up for Usyk either.

Fury is a lot more physical and better at imposing his size than Joshua, but he’s also a lot more reckless and gives fighters opportunities to counter him. That would allow Usyk to open up a lot more and throw more combinations, rather than the pecking and probing and single shots he was forced to utilise last night. Fight would likely be a classic, with massive ebbs and flows and a ton more emotion in the mix.

Agreed! Could be one for the ages - not that las night's tussles was anything but top quality! Might also become more of a 'chess match' with less action than last nights.

That's why I can't separate them right now - it comes down to who can impose their own will and gameplan better; and both have now demonstrated that ability at the highest level.

Fury doesn't have the perceived 'equalizer' punch that AJ / Wilder are seen to have, but he may well be able to land more often and even softer shots from someone that is 18 stone is going to take it out of you.

Again, would be fascinating to see what each of their gameplans would be, and who could execute / nullify the other.
