I'm betting 1000% percent on all mythical match-ups I've ever discussed...and usually do better than alright picking outright winners in the real world...But there was that one time I picked Marquez over Mayweather (ahem) I overlooked a little thing called mobility(?) won't do that again... Addendum: I think a prime Benny Leonard would have a shot at outfencing a young Micky Walker at welterweight.
it's funny when someone is new to the boards people usually assume they're new to boxing as well. not the case here. the problem with putting jones in mythical matchups right now is that people forget how good he was. they only remember him getting ko'd and that's why you get posters saying he would go down and you could count to 7000. joe louis was joe louis and you'd have to be crazy to think he wouldn't have a good chance to win but jones' speed and skill i think would surprise people in this fight.
Yes, leaving your left hand at your waist and leaning straight back from incoming right hands isn't death against Hearn's or anything.
Pipino Cuevas stopping Kid Gavilan late. Gavilan had great boxing ability & would move around and score very well. But Gavilan did like to mix it up. But the key factor is Gavilan's lack of power. Cuevas would keep walking in and eventually land the big bomb. Cuevas did very well against light hitting good boxers. Espada, Gray, Weston, Ranzany.
I feel an outrageous prediction coming on right now...... Briggs KO 4 Vitali ......phew I'm glad I've got that out of my system.
You're forgetting that Gavilan had an all time great chin. Robinson was never able to put him down in 25 rounds, nor was Eduardo Lausse at Middleweight (who most certainly hit harder in a general sense than Cuevas).
