what is your view on Wlad and Vitali never fighting?

First off let us kick the Serena vs Venus comparison into touch, both of them entered tournaments along with many other players knowing they could face each other, if they had refused to face each other then their invites to play in tournaments would have stopped.

The Klitschko brothers as you are aware promised their mother they would never fight each other.

By not fighting each other each became and stayed world champion for extended period, each becoming very wealthy as a result, sharing the wealth.

They will go down in history as the Klitschko brothers who dominated the division, not a bad legacy for the family name.

Neither could be accused of ducking as neither challenged the other.

Simple fact is the rest of the division for a long time were not good enough to depose them as champions.

 

A. Brothers don't fight. So no foul there.

B. Vitali coming back and holding a belt hostage from full unification did hurt the sport.

 

They are brothers and very close at that. It is also a cultural thing.

It's obviously understandable to not fight your brother or other family member, even friend.

But Wlad and Vitali are definitely ducking a fight, and that's battlefield duty in Ukraine.

They talked all about defending Kiev to the death etc., loved posting their Twitter heroics, are hand in hand with a regime conscripting men to go and die instead of negotiating terms ... yet where are the K brothers? Why aren't they out on the field doing their duty as cannon fodder?

Oh, they're fighting with the keyboard in their lush offices!

IMO you can't compare pugilist siblings to tennis players!

They both might be competetive sports, but one involves trying to physically destroy your opponent.

To me, that's kind of like saying because two siblings work at JP Morgan and are in meetings together, that it implies it should be expected that another two siblings should work for Evil Angel and appear in porno scenes together!! (And yes I do know there are examples of this out there but it is NOT a societal norm!)

Not exactly an apples v apples analogy.

Would anyone expect the Charlos to fight together in the ring? Boxing get's enough corllaries with WWE and fixes, and corruption, people would quite rightly not believe that it was a normal fight.

No duck IMO, if Wlad and Vitali fought properly in the ring, folks would view them as off the spectrum nutjobs and they'd lose a lot of respect.

You've found a very neat comparison with another set of famous sporting brothers but tennis and boxing do not compare as effectively...

 

My view: they know very well who's the better boxer. But promised to their mother to never fight eachother, that makes sense and is my view as well.

Comparing fighting to game-like sport is very stupid.

 

Just ban him already. Such post should not be allowed in a main boxing forum.

 

Always said by both their mother wouldnt have wanted this fight.

 

Shame on boxing and the gradual habituation of boxing fans to never watch top fights (also the Klitschko brothers did not fight Valuev).
As a result, today we are not watching Wilder Vs. AJ (even when that fight was for the undisputed champion), and many more top fights.

 

I guess it’s something to do with Ukranian’s having more unity than the generic western countries, as is evident today
