Judah always starts strong, however I think he's mentally weak due to his inability to adapt(he appears to be entranced after the first few rounds with moments of clarity every so often)He loses focus, never throws his straight left/uppercut enough...never..it's very critical as his awkward stance does a good job of hiding it, add to this his excellent speed and good sense of timing and he's unstoppable, but he just loses confidence, gets discouraged, and takes a **** in the middle rounds...abit sad really
judah IMO is a prime example of a fighter who does not react well to being hit . there are many fighters like judah at all levels of boxing. bully boy fighters for want of a description. love to be on top and bossing , all the confidence and skill and abilty flows out of them, but take these type of fighters out of there rythem, walk through them or show themn no respect and just keep working, they mentally fold, not understanding why or how they are not dominating and then start to box within themselves. we have all seen it countless times, the fighter with less skill who wants it more beats the better more skillfull boxer. i think the judah type fighters tend to think to much in the ring instead of just gritting there teeth and letting there hands go when things are not going there way. all fighters have bad days, just judah type fighters tend to lose when they are having there bad days whereas less talented fighters will get away with it and get the win on heart/determination and will to win and willingness to take a punch to give a punch.
Tszyu was a notoriously slow starter, whereas Zab always starts well given his speed and freshness. He won round one, but no more than that and got KTFO by Kostya. Exactly how it was a lucky punch I have no idea. Zab was backpedalling, Kostya was following him and threw a hard, straight right hand, which caught Zab flush. Whats lucky about it?
I love it when people say "He was controlling the fight until he got his ass knocked out" especially if it's an early KO...What does it matter who controlled the fight if it ended by KO? Aside from a robbery it's how the fight ended thats important...obviously the fighter scoring the KO took over control...very definitively no less...
Zab Judah is simply one-dimensional IMO. He instinctively expects his speed and power to overwhelm you, and when that hasn't happened after a while, he's basically f****d, because he can't switch gears or switch tactics. He only fights in one tempo.
Iv dowloaded his last fight (some title fight at 154, he came at 150), as usual Judah was beast first 3 rounds against c (maby it was even d) class fighter, but out of nowhere that other guy lands one right hand, and Judah looks lost and scared, he stoped throwing punches (but it was enough to win all the rounds coz other guy looked even more terrible). I was big fan of his and still am, but it pains me to see him fight like **** after 3-4 rounds.
Judah is nothing but a B level fighter, ok he has A level speed and A level power but C level chin and C level stamina and D level tactic. He destroys all these fragile C level guys with his speed and power but when faceing A level comp he stands no chance, Tszyu would knock him out regardles. Judah was lucky that he was knocked out so early because he would only get punished badly if it lasted longer. Cotto beat him up really badly. You dont even need to be A level to beat Judah, B level with a good chin and heart is enough to beat him as proven by Baldomir and this one other guy who was robbed and lost by SD. A fighter like Margarito would beat Judah.
hes a mental midget.one of the most inconsistent top line fighters of the last decade.when hes on he can be devastating but when hes off he can be a shambles.
I think Zab Judah basically isn't good enough boxer for big things. His glory is gone, there is at least ten boxers in welter who can knock him out right now
Every time that someone comes along who has top speed, and very good power, people think that they should be the best. Zab has a lot of raw physical attributes... but he is not a top boxer from a technical stand point. He gets flustered easily, he isn't very mentally tough... and his technical boxing skills leave a lot to be desired. He does have blazing speed, and very good power... but that will only take you so far.
i dont like to say this of judah cuz honestly hes one of my top favorite boxers.... but there are boxers... athletes who can box, and then there are fighters... he is not a FIGHTER... in his soul, its not natural. He is a boxer, and since he has a hard time sticking to a gameplan, and he relies to heavily on his speed and power, not really setting a rythem with anything, or goes to the body much, it often fails him against elite comp. To make him better... he needs to establish his jab more, pace himself more, go to the body more...
There are many fighters who are better than him. Mosley, DLH, Calzaghe, Hopkins, Pacman, Barrera, etc. You were talking about getting him in the P4P list, weren't you? These are the guys who occupy the P4P rankings, competing against him in the list.
Nothing wrong with him huh? How is he gonna get another shot anytime soon if he refused to fight Williams and Margarito, Cintron, Shane and Hoya are other impossibilities, Cotto and Mayweather have gone through him already? I feel that the fortitude he showed in getting brutalized by Cotto doesn't earn him another shot at the title...
