I've tried the plastic ones that break at the handle after a few months. I've tried the leather ones that have no speed. What one does Floyd Mayweather use - is it that Aero Speed Hyperformance Jump Rope? That thing moves so fast you can't even see it. But it's $40. What ropes do you guys like and use and where did you get them.

I'm at an intermediate skill level with crossing and footwork for about 15 minutes without messing up. Thanks for any advice.

El cheapo plastic handles type, speed rope. I replaced the cord with a bit thicker one when it snapped.

i used to like a leather rope with light handles.
the weight of the leather helps you to get some speed up and souds fast.

My plastic one's kept breaking (the cord) because the handles don't have bearings and it couldn't rotate when you skipped. I'll use my new leather one for a while and maybe it'll work better once it's broken in.

If you get a plastic one make sure there isn't any metal on the handle that the rope rubs on. That's usually what makes them snap.

    This one is decent:

I typically use a cheap ass plastic one I buy at the local Wal-Mart. It has heavy handles which I like, but depending on how strong the rope is it can break after only a few weeks or months of use. Pisses me the **** off  ...but I guess that's what I get for being so cheap. :yep

Those ropes suck, they'd break on me within a month. My leather Valero jump rope I got from Hibbett's Sport cost about 15 $.
