What justification is there to NOT have Mijares in the top 3 P4P right now?

Good Friends is still hilarious after all these years.

The record is pretty weak overall. I'm Broken, one of the more popular songs, was a recycled Vulgar riff and half-assed on the vocal end. And the throwaway Sabbath cover track, nearly identical to the original? I was impressed by this at 15, but now it just seems a waste.

Yeah, the lyrics in that segment of the song were supposed to sync up with the progression of the fight...probably just me obsessing over subtlety a little too much. The "a long time ago I never knew myself" during some of Munoz's best moments during the early Mijares-warmup rounds (where he still missed well over 75%), "then the memory of shame birthed its gift" after giving Alex the grin of death as they touch gloves between rounds and beginning to dominate the exchanges. "No more the small one the weak one the frightened one" as Munoz swings for the fences and eats bomb after bomb. "Becoming more than a man, more than you ever were" as Mijares hit his comfort peak around 9-10, "Rise beyond Jesus" after Mijares strings together several power punching flurries, and then "born again with snake's eyes, becoming Godsize" as he closed out the eleventh and twelfth towering over his mortal prey. :yep

    I know, I'm a ridiculous overthinker.

The thing is that only you'll notice this. You ought to help me come up with a detailed theme for a concept album though.:yep

What questions do you feel remain unanswered between Pavlik and Taylor after their two fights?

There has been a lot of discussion since the initial thread was made but no, Mijares does not belong in the top 3 p4p right now (and yes Amsterdam I blame you for starting the train that is unstoppable now  ). Without looking at my p4p list I believe I have him at #7 right now. He is sure to climb higher in the future, but right now how can anyone have him above PBF (possibly arguable if he rematches Hatton), Pac, JC and Cotto to name a few...? I then have him after JMM and Vazquez

Pavlik's chin and dimensionality. Especially dealing with a career **** up in ring generalship like Taylor, who's shown mentality issue's.

Mijares is easily 4x the fighter Pavlik is.

You think that train was bad, it irritates me that people underrate Gamboa now from the Jimenez bout and make out like **** opponents in robert guerrero are real threats and then go on to claim Khan's opponent Limond was more than 'journeyman jimenez', sickens me.

So therefore, let's get that KO win over Rojas and I'm going to start a train that makes the Mijares promotion look like it was impartial and serious.

Yeh and unfortunately I don't think he will ever live down the Jiminez flash KD (at least not on ESB). People will be bringing that crap up for the rest of his career im sure.....:-(

But yeh lets hope he demolishes Rojas and then continues his quest to supernatural godliness status

I disagree about Pavlik's dimensionality. Though he's hardly proved himself Ray Leonard in that department, we've seen him beat Taylor in two different ways in two different fights. That is fine to be going on with.

His chin? I don't think there is a question mark, actually. If he gets hit hard he will go down. But he has heart and fires back when hurt. It may prove to be his undoing, it may not. How do you think he compares to Mijares jab for jab, power for power?

Normally i'd let such a ludicrous statement pass, but you claim to have "grown up". You're happy to stick with this? What 5 is to 20, Pavlik is to Mijares?

Your biased though because you like him so much as a fighter. Even if you can't realise, others can. I know i am with Cotto, even though i try not to be. Comments like "he wsn't fighting at full throttle against Munoz" are a clear example of this in your case. Williams is better then Bute p4p, whom you are ALREADY giving Andrade credit for beating, despite the match not taking place yet. Margarito beat Clottey, who is still a good fighter, despite having trouble with his style. Andrade has yet to show ANYTHING that puts him above marg. Anyway, i am off for the night, i will have a look at everything else in the morning.

Good post. I probably if anything tend to under rate Pavlik slightly, due to his stigma on this forum. In regards to your previous post about my "surity" as well...

It is a bit much. Living in Classic leaves you behind the times in certain regards, but it sometimes means you can see modern fighters with less tired eyes. I rate Pavlik, though I'm far from hysterical about him.

You heard SuzieQ talk about Pavlik? Comparisons to Monzon abound.

No, Williams is not better than Bute P4P, have you seen Williams fight? He's a mess and his win over Margarito shows just how limited Margarito is. Margarito was fortunate Clottey broke his hand, he didn't just have trouble with his style, he was getting owned and Clottey was actually setting him up for the stoppage, should have seen that nice uppercut that buzzed Margarito in the 4th.

I didn't give him credit yet, I just can't see Bute winning and Andrade is a better fighter than Margarito, similiar styles with Andrade having actual KO power and a better chin, with Andrade's timing and coordination being a step up also, Margarito is very lacking in those departments.

This is all evident for viewing if you want to see it.

If Mijares beats Montiel he may break through into MY top five, but not the top three. PBF, Pac and Cal have quite a lead over everyone else.

If Israel Vasquez beats Rafa Marquez again he would move closer to breaking the triumvirate at the top. Cotto also has a much better chance with a win over Margarito.
