the credit was underrated. People didn't really respect marquez being number 2, and that Floyd was coming off a long layoff. A lot of people said JMM would make it tough.

 

I give him a lot of credit. I never put much credence into excuses. Do I think Floyd handpicked? Yes.. Do I think Marquez is overrated in regards to his fights with Pacman? Yes.. But Floyd did easily beat him. Marquez is a good hall of fame fighter, but I never thought he was close to ATG.

Floyd was at junior lightweight for 6 years and has 10 fights at 140 or up. He's a natural lightweight.

Marquez was and still is the ring champion at lightweight when he fought floyd. So you can pretty much rule out the weight issue when talking about featherweight. Also floyds original weight was super featherweight so you could also argue it is way above floods natural weight weather he'd been fighting their for 5 years or not

Jmm fought at lightweight before he fought at welter, floyd hadnt fought in two years.

That "handpicked" fighter had 4 months to prepare for the "p4p" best fighter in th world, and made him look likea confused fireless chump in 36 minutes, as a 38 year old man who was picked by team pacquaio to get steamroled after getting hit clean by brawlers like Katsidis, yet Pac couldnt do ****.

 

Marquez is a good aggressor but his mistakes in conditioning cost him the little bit of timing, speed, and agility to even be competitive with Floyd, whose a better counter-puncher than Juan is a come-forward fighter, especially with the height and reach advantages that let him control distance as well as the size he used to muscle JMM out of the inside with his forearm and prevent him from doing his usual work. JMM's head movement had developed better since that fight and he has better conditioning so maybe he would do better a second go around with this conditioning regimen, but considering how both depend so much on speed and timing, I only really see a fight at Featherweight or Superfeatherweight going well for Marquez.

Marquez came in great shape against Pac, I was surprised.
