Same the seasons starting soon aswell:D
Age? Weight? Hight? How long you been boxing for?
    Sorry about all the questions.
If you need to get one before the other get gloves, you can always train on the bags at your gym, when you join up agian. if both make sure you get 100lbs bag so you can pound it and get your strength up, i only have a light 40 and its pretty gay lol. i have 14oz everlast gloves.

    17, 147lbs, 5'11"

I'm going to get both at the same time. I've been boxing for roughly 6 months--so not long, but I know the fundamentals pretty well.

yes same here been boxing round 8-9months now, aparently i've picked it up pretty well and the coach wants me ready for the season which starts soon. Also I have a fight planned in four weeks, only charity but it should be some good experience.:bbb
    I'm 16, 11stone which i think is around about 154lbsand 6'2"

I have a urge to move up in weight class. I want to be heavier, but I don't know. What do you think?

Well im broad but pretty slim, very light for my weight at least thats what i thought.
If you move up then obviously you will be fighting bigger, stronger opponents. Do you 1. think you'd be strong enough to fight back with heavier fighters? 2. will you be too small? 3. can you take a shot?
They might just walk through everything you throw. Now obviuosly if its not going to be that dramatic because after all its only amature and only i', guessing a small amount of weight you want to put on.
I'm not no expert mate so don't take my word for it, i've only been boxing a little longer than you after all. When you go back to your gym ask the coach there.
Depends on how you feel overall and on the points above.:good

1)Strength I can build on moving up a few pounds
2)I'll be average height, even moving up-I think
3)I've got a decent chin so I think I can take it

I'll have to see what's best a keep training. I guess its more of a personal preference to want to move up.

Yea man, but one question why would you want to move up? If you could stay lighter than you'd be fighting on average the opposite of what it would be like if you was bigger.

My only argument to that is, I want to be bigger. I know really a good thing for boxing, but just kind of what I want. You know?

No I want to be fat :nut

Yeah, more muscle. Maybe go up to superwelter or middle. I still have at least two or three pounds of fat I could lose so if I went up to 154 that would be about 10 pounds.

Firstly why would you want to be fat?:huh
 Secondly I know what you mean smart arse, i too was thinking about bulking up. When you get to are age you want to be some strong guy with some good body. I decided that id rather keep some height advantage, after all i could bulk up in the future.
You need to make a thread about how to bulk up 10 pounds and all that crap cause as you know there are some people on here who know there stuff.:good

Well I know how to bulk well enough, it's just keeping the fat down to a minimum that I'm not entirely sure on. And no I'm no where close to being fat. I have abs etc. but while gaining muscle you inadvertently gain fat as well.

I have a height advantage while at welter, but if I went up to super then I think i'd lose that..so I don't know.

I'm not to familiar with how the amatures work, but i thought you fight at the same weight like if i went into a fight 154pounds then i would be fighting someone roughly 154pounds, not weight classes. Or am i just wrong completly?

I don't know either, I just assume from what I know. As I said, I've never had a fight yet so I'm just guessing at this point.
