Pacquiao vs Margarito paid attendance of 30,437 = a live gate of $5,404,760.

    1.15 million buys = $64 million domestic pay-per-view revenue.

    Total revenue = 69,404,760.

Pacquiao supposedly got a $15 million dollar guarantee + about 12.5% of the PPV numbers ($8,000,000) = $23,000,000.

That 12.5% was the small percentage I was talking about.

Margarito probably made about $5-6 million, so that leaves $40 million.

You shouldn't pay any mind to Lance. He is bitter because all the fighters he hates are going down as ATG. :deal

And how much did Top Rank make? How much did HBO make for their part? Or the cable providers? The venue? How much was taken in taxes? WHo paid for Pac's expenses? His trainers? His cornerman?

I ask becasue I wonder who pays for a lot of that. Fighter? Promoter? And out of what? Pocket? Expenses? Purse?

Sorry Uncle Tom, we're actually disucssing this like adults. You, on the other hand, think Arum would ask for options on Mayweather and act like it's a foregone conclusion he would. Now run along and act "white" uncle tom.... :thumbsup

I don't know, but I'm guessing that Top Rank made more than Pacquiao.

I have no clue. But at the same time, how much does Top Rank foot early on? How much does TR spend on promotions? I ask because if they are covering a lot of costs off the front end, it makes sense for them to recoup some in the back end. In a perfect world, sure, the boxer would make the most. But when there are SOO many factors involved, so many parties involved in making a fight of these magnitudes, there's a lot of money to be split up.

I guess we can all assume TR is robbing Pac and making bank, but truth is,Pac is making bank, and all that is just assumption of a promoter 99% of posters hate for some reason.

Floyd agreed to fight Margarito for 8 but wanted 10 million a fight to face Hatton and Cotto. Arum was only willing to offer 7 each. He also wouldnt make the deal to fight De La Hoya. Floyd then bought him out.

That is fair, but answer this, why was he trying to negotiate a purse for 2 fights that haven't even been talked about or negotiated for? That makes no sense!!

Sounds like a conveneint way to get outta fighting a tough challenger. You know, sorta like bringing in a roadblock of drug tests he never asked for before?

Probably greater than 20% of the purse and then skimming all types of cash from the other revenue streams like site fees, PPV, etc... Arum is making a killing off of Pac. That is why he won't set up the Mayweather fight.

The promoter assumes these expenses as part of the pay per view. Expenses would normally cosist of the main event and undercard purses, and then marketing. The promoter can secure guaranteed sources of revenue in order to cover these expenses, but in most cases, assumes the financial risks and hopes that the pay per view event turns out to be a success.

Revenues would come in the form of live gate, delayed broadcast and closed circuit fees, sponsorships, net international sales and net PPV sales. Net PPV sales is less the share of local cable operators (usually 50%), and the distributor (e.g., HBO). The promoter usually gets >40% but less than 50% of the gross PPV revenue. The main event fighters then get a specific percentage (e.g., 12.5% for Pacquiao) of the promoter's share of the PPV revenue in excess of a specific buy rate (such as net PPV revenue for buys over 200,000).

The promoter does not get anything from a boxer's guaranteed purse or share of PPV revenue. This is an absurd misconception.

Golden Boy takes its share from whatever Top Rank earns from a Pacquiao fight, not from what Pacquaio earns.

The undercard fighters get paid. Theres a cost to promote it and the venue. How much is Arum left with. Is probably still a good amount
