Figured people here would know because so many Aussies are also kickboxers like Paul Briggs, Dawson, etc.

watching the contender:asia (please no spoilers, not finished watching the show yet) and they keep talking about how $150,000 is huge prize money. In boxing that would be low...

What do fighters make at all the levels?

I read an article last year or something, I think the article was from the year before.

It said the average pay for the Thais was 5000-1000 baht, which is like $175-$350. Pretty sure that was in a night of fighting where they could go at it 3 or 4 times.

I know thats not a rich country but it is the mecca of muay thai.

Less than regional boxers? We're talking 5-15K purses?

I talked to a local Thai kickboxing Trainer/ promoter over here in the west that i know, He told me to get a top fighter from the Eastern states to come over here and fight a Thai guy he has training at his gym that they want around 4-5k. Thats not a lot and were talking about the best at that weight in Australia too.

It is silly really, They are fighting the most brutal of sports and get next to nothing. Its no wonder guys like Dawson Briggs and even JWP for a while jump over to Boxing even though they are at a disadvantage in doing so.

I have been to many fight nights in my time, Most Boxing cards in WA have Boxing with Muaythai and UFC. I can tell you this there are more BOO's for UFC as soon as they hit the ground everyone is pissed off:thumbsup
Thai boxing is far more exciting than watching 2 guys dry humping each other:shock:

I love watching Mauy Thai. I even llike certain aspects of it more so than boxing.

What about the following? Is there more following for Mauy Thai or Boxing? Evolution seems to get pretty good attendance and there seems to be more money pumped into the production side of it.. Any opinions?

I agree, MMA is the sport UFC is a promotion company, MMA is terrible to watch live, I comparing Thai fighting to boxing, Thai fighters have to take punishment because of the kicking and the strogest guy always wins and boxing a way more skilled who is not that strong can win a the fight, by not getting hit and purer boxing.

I like watchin boxing a little bit more muay thai, but both kick ass over MMA, but i still respect MMA.

And i like training muay thai more than boxing, but only cause im good at muay thai, and get owned then i box (by huricn).

Muay thai shows get good numbers, and they do a lot for charity which is always good.

And the aussie muay thai level is way higher world wide than the aussie boxing level is... imo.
