That's how I see it. I always think of 'The Emperor's New Clothes' when I think of Wilder. He's been very carefully shielded at every stage of his career to bring him to the top level with that 0 record intact. I think he's limited and a good HW in his prime will expose that. I don't expect him to face a good opponent unless they're either aging or he's getting a big payment.
His power punches are really vicious i cant think of any other heavy who hits that hard. But only the punches he puts the real intent on. Everything else just seems to bounce off his opponants trouble free and they certainly dont deter them from coming at Wilder. But when he puts the intent on them its wow. His direct rival Anthony Joshua doesnt seem to have that one punch lights well and truly out power but he seems to break you down with clubbing shots, theres a little bit of hurt on everything he throws, enough to just break you apart, take a few and your ears will be ringing, headache already coming on and your gaurd may be working but your arms have taken a beating and are already feeling heavy and sore. And yet he can still put you to sleep if he lands something really sweet. I cant lie though id rather have Wilders power. Nothing better than a 1 shot KO.
He answered the question on his power when he stopped Ortiz, a HW everyone considered at the time to be top 5 and many were picking to knock him out. That was his first stoppage over an elite HW. He has excellent athleticism, ability to get into range to land and bladdering power shots. His power is above AJs for sure and he is considered number 2 in the power stakes. However if he continues to fight other elite fighters he will be beaten. His defensive weaknesses and lack of fundamental boxing skills are glaring. He covers them up through athleticism and being extremely alert. However a Tyson Fury at 90% is likely to UD him. Essentially the fighters with an elite jab, elite defence and ability to be disciplined for 12 rounds UDs Wilder.
I created this thread & the poll choices. I tried to be as fair as possible. What is your complaint? Is it that there are no poll choices BELOW above average power? Or the way I phrased the last choice? I am not a Wilder fan or hater. I revealed my opinion that his opposition has been especially limited, & I attempted to counter-balance that by making the final choice one that was comical. So included the prejudice some have at admitting even a simple primal ability if they do not like someone. Do you think I SHOULD have a poll choice of average power for a HW, or even below? I have never heard anyone say he does not at least have decent power. When you KO virtually everyone, & often with few or one shots, it does not seem plausible that you have only average power. Even if some shots are from illegal above the belt punches. I would not pick the top choice of most power ever, & am open to ideas. Tell me if you think Wilder could possibly have no greater than average power, & I will add that to the poll.
Why? I took your complaint into consideration, & even offered to change the poll if you could give me a good reason to do so. So answer me-do you think Wilder possibly has only average power or less? You explained nothing, now though I have been polite to all am as fair as possible, you do not like me....Why? I note that somehow I supposedly "liked" your comment about that, lol! What did you not like? When I encouraged others to not verbally sodomize each other in pages long threads of personal attacks? Many folks agreed with that, & this place has gotten BETTER, with some cowardly verbal abusers (since doe from a safe distance) booted. If you want to reply, please give an actual reason you do not like the poll or anything else. If it is just blind unreasoning hatred or projecting personal issues or resentments upon me, I cannot help that. Do you think that Wilder only has average HW power or less? AGAIN, tell me if you or cite anyone here has that seemingly extreme opinion, & I will include that choice.
How anyone that's truly followed Wilder not grasp the aboutabs beast that he's become ... Dude is a ****ing WW fighting in a slim shredded 225 @6'7" never seen before. DW very well could easily be the hardest hittrh ever seen. It's because he throws lightening bombs so fast. And now we know for a fact he's truly durable and has heart that don't ever back down. He'll destroy any man put in his way
Based on every single fight that Aj and DW had. DW can only lose by getting ktfo but nobody knocking him out first
Ortiz landed some clean shits with so he had and DW was in total control of his body throughout. He mentally thought though it and destroyed Ortiz. Dw didn't need any break , he we 100% there
Nobody "needs" to know. It is an academic question where people are curious about the opinions of others & hopefully trying to discover what is likely to be true-not just what they prefer to be the case. What did you vote if you did?
he has very good power, sort of like hammed, the power is magnified by the speed and unseen angles that the punch is coming from. a master boxer would nullify his power, as he is not skilled enough to create his own openings, unfortunately there are no barreras in the shw division, so he has a chance against anyone.
