The level of opposition makes it hard to gauge Wilder. He's literally faced one A level fighter and went life and death with him, but he has knocked out guys that were outboxing him, so it is potent enough. Cannot be rated 9/10 for me. I'd say 8/10 until he steps in with the Fury's and Joshua's.
I have him between 3 and 4 in the poll. Good power like he showed against Szpillka and Ortiz. But so so power when you see him getting the TKO against the likes of Duhaupas and Washington. No 1 punch KO power at all. He aims behind the ears, heck even behind the head. He also hits with the forearms. When I went throw his KO highlight reel it showed me a lot of illegal punches, dives, and early stoppages. Wilder's power is good enough to get the job done, but not as great as Wlad's or AJ's
That's because Joshua doesn't even need to put the intent in his shots to get the job done. Why take such risks when you are already cruising on the winning formula?
Wilder's power is such that even with very poor fundamentals no clean fighter wants to risk taking him on.
I appreciate all the feedback. Very different ideas, that he may hit the hardest ever-or amongst the hardest ever-& that it is no better than good. Smack Da Bum even has him marginally above average overall. I really have to consider IF he has gotten many out of there with illegal punches that if landed cleanly & on better competition, would render their effect & his record far less impressive. So I reserve judgement now. There really is no good consensus on this thread. Is there any other HW who is accused of so many illegal KOs? If not, why is it so tolerated?
