As an amateur, we seem to train all year, always learning. With top level pros that have 8 week camps, it seems a bit crazy to me, b/c shouldn't they be honing their skills and getting better year round, just at a more relaxed pace than camp? Thanks.
i think most jog almost every day of the week wen not in training camp and do still spend time in the gym doing light workouts. in the end, its still going to a gym and excercising. i see pros all the time in the gym who tell me they dont have a fight lined up yet etc, theyre just working out and learning etc
Some do **** all and get really fat and out of shape. Then they end up spending their training camp getting back in shape vs sharpening their skills. Some stay in decent shape by running, and doing boxing workouts a couple times per week. Just no, or very little sparring. And others, Bernard Hopkins probably being the most notable stay in good shape year round and don't get more then a few pounds above their fighting weight. Hopkins credits his staying in shape year round and not constantly gaining and losing weight for being able to compete at the highest level at his age.
Not really sure.. training camps dont happen much over here. My coaches train 16-21 times a week tho, i donno if in training camps you train more
the human body cannot handle a pro level camp year round, they are specifically designed for a fighter to peak, any longer they would burn out and be overtrained.
