I rate Saul Alvarez to be B class figher presently, comparable to a top journeyman and possible title contender. If he is able to rise beyond that is up to him and his trainer...

It's hard to say right now... he hasn't fought any good challenges yet.

Co-sign. He doesn't have what I would call 'elite level talent' ....and like many others, I question his ability to take a punch.

He's got a VERY tough fight ahead tonight. Baldomir didn't care to drain to the contracted 151lbs and will be a solid 166+ tonight, and Canelo is not really a light middleweight. It just might be an early step-up, Baldomir is old, yes, but not an old B level fighter but and old former lineal world champion which is still a major step-up. But I have high hopes in this kid so I think he'll come through. Now if he can maintain his rate of developing, sky is the limit and in 3 years we'll definitely see him as a titleholder unless he faces a Judah type of fast, slick powerpuncher, the kryptonite style.

In three years, it'll be revealed that Alvarez is an ex-pat from the Irish team.

Think he's a BIG BIG natural talent -- boxing savvy well-beyond his years. But, if someone jumps on him early, while he's just feeling things out, he could have an Emille Griffith-Hurricane Carter rude awkening.

Possible top 5 P4Per in my book. He's only 20 so a loss wouldnt be disastrous.
