After 6 years, Floyd has finally made a decision to fight Manny. What do you think in his mind are the reasons that makes him do so? Is it money, age, legacy, no worthy options, fans choice, forced or something else?
I think Showtime backed him into a corner after he declined Khan and rematched Madaina. Not the Madaina 2 was a flop, but surely Showtime, paying him 32 mil/fight were expecting nothing but 1 mil plus buys, only the Canelo fight achieved. Now, he's gotta either fight Khan, which would get the 1 mil buys, but it's just as risky a proposition as Pac, and without the HUGE PPV bonus. Pac v Floyd is gonna do 2.5 million. Shatter the records, and Floyds gonna be counting his millions alongside Espinoza. I said it after Madaina 1. Choosing a comeforward brawler type, but Blevel in Madaina, and schooling him would bolster Floyds appeal. Choosing a slick boxer in Algeri, and dominating him, would bolster Manny's appeal. This fight is essentially forced on both of them. It's just that Manny would actually maul Khan, whereas Floyd would likely struggle with him.:think
It's the only money making fight left. I believe they'll have a rematch. Unless we get a clear winner in the fight, the score cards will be upsetting. People will demand a rematch either way!
Obviously it's about the money. I know he's guaranteed $32M, but why not make $120M if you can? I think he might have felt pressured by executives at Showtime, but he wouldn't have taken this fight were it not for immense financial gain.
Age and money. Floyd waited for Pac to slow down. That was the plan all along. Pac's style ages more poorly than Floyd's. I always knew that the only way Floyd would take the fight would be when they were both past their best years. Now they are on the cusp of retirement age, they make the fight
