What made him so physicall powerful that even in his mid 40's he was capable of physically pushing around steroid inflated heavies like Tommy Morrison and Shannon Briggs?
According to his book "By George", he'd hit the bag all day long, chop wood, pull cars, etc. Plus he's got a natural build, too.
Exactly, George was always a big guy naturally. I'm pretty sure he didn't use weights instead he used old school techniques to build strength as you listed. I remember in the aftermath of the first Bowe-Golota fight George was in the ring trying to settle it down, I doubt anyone messed with him.
There's a video on YouTube and he gets into it. You can hear him say "It's not worth it" to some guy he was trying to subdue.
Hey Pat_Lowe, is your avatar a picture of when they lowered a cow onto George Foreman (I read his 'By George' too and remember him talking about that scene). If it is, where did you get it? It looks like it might have been from a TV screen. Thanks
Haha could you imagine standing up to him, Not a chance in hell. A 6"3 240 pound man that was the heavyweight champion of the world, any guy would be shitting himself.
Yeah it is, I made the picture by taking a screenshot from a documentary about Foreman. I thought it was pretty impressive.
It makes me feel bad for the cow, but yeah, very impressive. I remember from the book he said everyone (that witnessed) was shocked. I also remember he kind of inserted that story without a great deal of relevance attached to it... kind of looked like he was bragging, but hey, I like the guy so he can get away with it.
Well Foreman in the 90's was probably still the strongest heavyweight around. He was forcing back Holyfield, Briggs, and Morrison etc. These aren't weak guys.
