I just think George was a naturally strong guy, like his mentor Liston was. Look how easily he pushed Frazier away when they fought - as if he were nothing more than a toy. And Joe weighed over 200 lbs! Great genetics probably was the main factor. On his comeback, George was flippant about his training regimen, preferring to talk about cheeseburgers, as if he really didn't train that hard. Don't be fooled though. He trained hard alright, and although fat he also carried a lot of muscle, which was hidden underneath the flab.
because he's a lean (apart from the layer of fat) mean (apart from his big happy smile) fat reducin' grilling machine (he could well of ate the fat that got drained out) im ony messin' i love george but not in a gay way but a respectful 1
Passing stones! I'm sure a certain ancient senile ESB member can relate to George's epic fights with stones!
Speak more clearly! I can't hear you over your disjointed narrow minded rambling, plastic underwear lad!
You're an IDIOT for thinking a Marciano opponent suffered from ALS! Is it clear you are an idiot now?
Normally, us "normal" folk don't really take notice when legitimately ******ed people have fits and cry. Like you're doing. Oops. Have been doing. You can't keep up this pace old man! You'll be dead and buried within a decade, and I'll still be here preachin' the ALS! :bbb :happy
Foreman actually did lift weights some in his second career. However, he also used a lot of unorthodox techniques as well. Chopping wood, pulling cars up hills, that kind of thing.
Yeah, I'm not sure how much Foreman lifted, but he did use weights during his comeback. I remember seeing a video of him doing seated arm curls on a machine in the gym; the guy's arm's were massively huge! Granted, alot of Foreman's bulk was pure fat, but he was strong as a bull nonetheless. But I think the majority of Foreman's strength - at least during his comeback - was more in the pushing/pulling/shoving variety rather than in the punching power variety. For all of the weight training that George did during his comeback, his punching power was clearly inferior to what it was during his prime, back when he did no weight training!
10 to 15 years removed from his prime may also have somthing to do with it... Still look at the cooney ko...No doubt Foreman still was the hardest hitting heavy in the game also during his second career..
Foreman had the power still, the punches were slower though. Watch Frazier-Foreman 2. Much had to do with his added weight and loss of extreme meaness, not age.
He was very determined when he was young, he hit the bag all day with Dick Saddler holding it , He;d just thump into it and chop at the trunks of massive trees in Humble Texas... He was a very big red meat eater too.. Later during his comeback he had a rigourous weights regime.. His whole body was sheer muscle... Very athletic though.. He was a massively strong feller... Honed along with great tools (Jab , right hand, uppercut)
