I'm pretty new to boxing and just wanted to know what George Foreman's greatest strengths were. And during his comeback when he fought Briggs and Moorer, what did he do well beside hit hard?

Comeback George had a "Stiff jab" = to a regular guy's "Straight Right"
His brute strength is prob his overall best quality.

He seemed to often look off balance and he blocked punches awkwardly. it amazes me at 48 years old he was able to push forward against briggs.

His super human strength and his super sturdy chin.

And during his comeback his great jab and nearly everyone being scared of him helped.

He was simply a better horse than anyone else. Stronger, better jaw, overall way more powerful than anyone else in the division back then. Explosive punching power.

Was not a model boxer skill/form wise at all. Overpowered and blew everyone away until Ali.

Was much more technically sound when he came back and claims he was better then than he was in his athletic prime, but he was totally different.

Never had much speed to begin with but was molasses when he came back.

Size, power, jab, ring-cutting ability, strength.

Foreman in his 2nd career obviously lacked some of the physically tools he had when he was young, but he was smarter, more relaxed, picked his shots better, made a better effort at using his "turtle" defense than the guy who winged shots and left himself more open than a 5 dollar hooker for Ali's straight punches down the middle.

He seemed so nonchalant and gentle during his comeback

In his prime he was just such a physical beast no one could stand up to him until Ali came up with the rope-a-dope which gassed him out. Go watch some video on him. Will make pure boxers sick to their stomach watching him but is absolutely insane. Great entertainment.

The guy just had to walk into the gym, he was born with it. ATG power, world class chin, huge size and strength specially for his time...what can you do?

Didnt the guy become olympic champ after only 2 years of training?

Best heavyweight slugger of all ****ing time, that's what. He had the size, power, chin, and heart to slug his way through the division. In retrospect man I can't believe Ali beat him.

    Ask ken norton/Joe frazier/George Chuvalo/Ron Lyle... they'll tell you.

George Foreman was a very intimadating man. He looked like he was going to kick some ass before the bell rang. The dude was big and strong as an ox!
