Seeing those 24/7's I started to wonder about Hatton's camp. I cringe when I hear trainers talk about reinventing fighters. It seemed like they were shoving a lot into Hatton's head instead of just focusing on what he does best. Even a Mayweather can't turn a Hatton into a Mayweather. On the flip side, Roach seemed like he was just buffing a polished stone.
And this is what seperates fighters like Floyd ,Manny and Hatton ..The ability to adjust to any situation ..Hatton only has 1 gear ..
Let's not forget that Hatton's only two losses came against guys who were widely thought to be P4P #1 in the world. Pac's Speed, timing, accuracy, positioning, and punch selection had a lot to do with Hatton being easy to hit! However, I was not impressed by Hatton's approach. He tried to bull rush Pac. dumb idea.
Bob Arum also said Buster Douglas was the best heavyweight in the world during his comeback right before he got knocked out in one round by Lou Savarese. Dont believe anything that comes out of Arums mouth, hes Mannys promoter, just as Oscar was Hattons.
I think Manny had more to do with it than Roach. I give Roach credit to some degree. He's smart enough to know what he has to give and I like the way he talks to his fighters. The scenes where he puts his head close to Pacquiao's and just tells him over and over what a great fighter he is was classic Roach. Mayweather and Hatton didn't seem to really like each other.
Personally I just didn't see their personalities clicking ..Hatton class guy MW's flashy and ignorant ..Hatton should have consulted with Dawson before consulting with Oscar as to the negatives of having MW in his corner ..There was a reason Dawson let him go and im sure there were some similarities in the Hatton camp ..Snr couldn't of pulled that **** with Oscar because Oscar was the Golden Goose !
when charging down your opponent, who is faster and has real 1punch ko power, its advisable to keep your hands up and protect your chin.
I was shocked Hatton was leading in the fight. I thought for sure Mayweather would have him waiting for Manny to lead and then throw punches and move off to the side. Hatton came forward with his hands down, no head movement, no jab, and squared up, all the biggest no no's for getting countered easily. I dont know if he was just overly hyped or that was the gameplan, but it was a very bad choice.
Hatton is easy to hit for the following reasons: 1) He doesn't throw a jab on the way in 2) He doesn't double the jab on the way out 3) He sticks his chin up in the air 4) He throws his head forward when he punches 5) His hands are always bobbling under his chin 6) He winds up before his punches, making it obvious he's going to unload
That's the best answer you're going to get; pretty definitive list! 7) The instructions on the box read, "Hit Man." Even Minute Rice can't beat that kind of simple clarity.
