Speed, skills, and the machismo to back those skills and physical attributes up. When the machismo left, so did his chance at being an ATG.

that is it in a nutshell.

i can't recall a fighter changing as drastically as camacho did after the rosario fight. before that fight, he had no fear, fought with balls. after that, he picked his spots very carefully.

the pre rosario camacho was well on his way to possibly becoming a legend.

offensively, he had possibly the fastest hands i have seen, his power was above average, and if you can find some of his earlier fights, you can see that his combination punching was great, by no means shoeshine, he sat down on 5 and six punch combinations, and would not get touched. his footspeed and defense were very good, defensivey not as good a pea, but well above average.

Camacho was a had fast hands and feet. Great head movement. His boxing abilities would fustrate alot of his opponents.
His antics during the pre fight press conferences were hillarous.

Well, this would make sense had you reversed the terms, somethig like "he had the skills and physical attributes to back up the machismo"...

Camacho was good but never a great fighter.
