anyone remember the ProStars cartoon? I always thought Mike Tyson should've been on it but I think it came out around the time the media started to paint Mike as a villain.

Yeah, he'd already lost his titles by the time that series came out and had the **** charges pending around the same time.

I give his talent by and large the lion's share of the credit for his fame, but he also came up when the media, marketing and pop culture were shifting and really starting to explode. People like himself, Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan look surreal-famous in hindsight and literally impossible to duplicate.

He was one dimensional and the general public like things that are simple and predictable. They don't want Art, they want formula.

Because he was a scary bad ass mfker and in that era people loved that sort of dark dangerous scary unstable character.

Kind of summed up the uncaring selfish materialistic late 80's and early 90's.

I asked 2 people, One said No i don't know him, The other said yes, but said it was a baseball player at 1st. Everyone over 15 years old knows Mike Tyson.

Tyson was exciting, his style was fantastic, until Don King got hold of him. The death of Cus D'Amato and Jimmy Jacobs did Tyson in, getting rid of Kevin Roony finished him.

    Haaa, for sure.

There are quite a few more, but I didn't want to get crazy with it. Probably could've posted another 20 examples. I actually grew up in the 90s, but as an 80s baby I claim it and am 'proud' of what it produced. I know there is a good amount of hype involved, but rather than viewing it as a negative, I tend to soak up the nostalgia. Everything is 'the best' or 'greatest' in all facets :rofl

Even though the 70s probably clearly blows it out of the water in some aspects of entertainment and culture, icons and such.
