Over decades, there've been SRR lookalikes as graceful 'n as a hard-hitting. What singular quality made Robinson unique?

He had that je ne sais quoi. If you could truly put it into words, it would not be so special.

Look at THAT punch against Fullmer. It was perfect! Why was it perfect, as there have be many other brilliant one punch KO's over the years? I do not know, I just know, that when I watch it, I am seeing perfection.

there is none, jg- it's the combination of so many things that made him damn good.. i'll say this though, no other puncher has the same mastery of range and timing that he does. Some of the better boxers do, but not the punchers.

He had everything and he showed it for a quarter of a century in the ring. What impresses me is that from a stylistic standpoint i can not see many fighters pre 50s who could effectively use their style today. Robinson looked ahead of his times.

    1940-1965.
    200 fights.
    What a man.

The torque that he puts on his punches, nobody else punches like that

Yeah actually he did infact, Joe Louis had that same effect. Nobody punches like those two. They're like bullets punching straight through, just perfect placed shots. Im having a hard time putting into words how i would describe their punching, but they are definatley the best two punchers.

Hearns was always that bit ragged. I am (rightly) going to get shot for this, but Breland had the look, tools and seemingly the technique.

But as I found out, that was completely not the case, I forgot that x factor and also the temperament was not there for Mark.

It just shows, it does not matter how much talent is there, if you not got the temperament and dedication you will get found out.

i remember reading a quote by someone who was persuading robinson to fight some exhibitions in europe. it went something like this:

"the parisians want to see an artist... you're like a dancer, you put on a show, you're not just a fighter... you're an artist."

It's full body punching, starts with their legs and goes all the way through to their fists. Lots of torque, and Louis's punching is a lot more conservative and efficient, and maybe a little more accurate. Robinson is the poetry to Louis' science, more improvisational and instinctive, wilder but also more unpredictable.

SRR is basically a combo of his idols Kid Chocolate and Louis; he has the movement and fluidity of the keed and the power punching, combinations of Joe.
