Avoiding punches. Dodging is best. You get higher points for deflecting shots with your shoulder than you do for deflecting them with your hands. Don't ask.
I obviously didn't bother reading properly, what I said meant something slightly different. 'Slick', to me, is being agile, mobile or adept at methods/techniques (or any one of these), and often speed is a big part of it. A fighter can be slick without necessarily being good at pacing or controlling a fight, that would be something else.
