What makes a fighter old school ?

    When fighters keep offense as a top priority, not that they don't have good defense but more like there is a certain default level of pressure fighter to them, even if they're good boxers they exhibit pressure tendencies like always coming forward and throwing even if they aren't actually pressure fighters, and that also means inside fighting

    Fighters who learned and improved their craft, regardless of their style, by fighting, frequently.

    It's interesting that you bring up Carmen Basilio, because it made me think of something I heard at a sports banquet once. Emanuel Steward was at the podium and was talking about the difference in boxing from years ago to the present (when he was talking). He said it's remarkable how, after a recent Hector Camacho fight that the ring canvas had to be swept before the next bout because of the amount of sequins that had flaked off of Camacho's trunks. It got a great laugh and then he followed it by asking, "Can you imagine Carmen Basilio saying before a fight to hold on so he could remove his earring?" It really did put things in perspective.
