I once read someone say that 80% of being able to take a punch is fitness. Is that really so, or do they just mean the ability to recover once you've been punched?

Is there much a fighter can do to improve his chin? Are there any fighters that spring to mind that improved their chin over their career?

Is taking a lot of shots in the gym/during your careeer likely to improve your resistance to a punch or diminish it?

If you could ignore the art of defence and just focus on the actual ability to take a punch, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts........

Zackman is the only person that can confirm if a chin is good or not. SO wait on him 4 approval

It's not fitness...fitness can help, but if you have anatomic disadvantages you can train like Bruce Lee. But that's only my opinion.

Andrade had a very good technique - he kind of followed the punches with his head if that makes any sense to you. His chin is granite, mainly because of technique I would say.

that means you've never fought yourself and expect him to write the 'bible' for you.

i've boxed all my life and having a chin isn't something that really can be trained for in the big scheme of things.

it has it's grey areas - people will always say 'he was weight drained' and so on...

but at the end of the day, weight and anything else taken into account, it's really something you have or you don't.

it's the eternal 'achilles heel' for a top flight fighter.

the only thing i will say is that for some fighters it's part of their development - to get nailed BUT be able to get up again and win. that's developmental.

but you can'øt compare that to someone like WLad klitschko.

and that's just the way it is. that simple.

Nigel Benn seemed to improve his ability to take a punch by lifting weights strapped around his head.He was basically strenghtening his neck muscles. It seemed to work for him as his punch resistance seemed to get better

im one of the few people that believes that self confidence has most to do with how you take a punch.
