self confidence allows you to find out how good you are, relax in the ring, learn from your mistakes, and have an unwavering belief that whatever happens you will prevail. damn. there's nothing wrong with that. but if you play football and you get a cruciate ligament injury there's nothing you can do about that. and in my book that's parallel to a good or bad chin. it's out of your hands.
yeah i just watched Harrison vs. Sprott. what a KO!! i dont know anything about his attitude outside of the ring from this video but i dont see any of that in this particular fight. he seemed more tense than anything else compared to how relaxed James Toney looks or how cocky Roy Jones looked in his prime. talking big could mean the exact opposite of being confident, alot of people talk like that just to hide their insecurities actually.
Typically strong mental fighters have great chins. And by "mentally strong" I mean guys that can get taken out of their rhythm/game plan, get hit hard, and still maintain their composure and adjust without losing their cool or getting down on themselves
Well I don't know about that. I know that Rahman used that neck weight lifting for his training against Lennox Lewis and look at how that fight turned out for him. :!: I've yet to see a true example of where neck weight lifting or bubble gum chewing has actually improved a fighter's ability to take a shot. Seems to me like you're either born with the ability to take a great punch, or you're not.
I used to put the whole pack of hubba bubba in my mouth at once when I was a kid (sometimes two packs), so I should be able to challenge Klitschko, I figure. :nut :!:
LMAO, one of the trainers at my gym told me he'd spar 20 rounds a day. I was like wtf you must got an Iron Chin, hes like Ya Yu know just chew bubble gum. ROFL
But really, it has a lot to do with your neck strength and head size. Also if you notice A lot of guys that can take a punch generally have a wide jaw line. Baldomir, Mayorga, Oscar, Hopkins, Mosley..Their jaws are wide and they aren't long and pointed out.
Neck strength, Core stability, Sturdy Legs, Heart/determination - Mainly the last one. And largely dependent on genetics.
