The question is very simple. But you ask people and you may get 1000 different answers. To me, great fights don't have anything to do with big money or championship belts. Great fights sometimes make boxers famous without being an "important" fight. It could be two class A, B, or C fighters. But when those two fighters have very similar skills and power. When those two fighters have big hearts......That is what makes fights. GOOD MATCHES. OF course I enjoyed watching Tyson destroying people in 30 seconds. But I prefer watching Gatti vs. Ward battle any day. Or Tito vs. Vargas, Morales vs. Barrera, or Vazquez vs. Marqueze. Now, how many times undercard fights are more exciting than main events??? It doesn't happens that often now because boxers are protected by their managers, but once in a while we still get one of those great fights. What makes a great fight for you??? Do you rememer any great undercard fight you watched????????
I think so also. Even exchanges and not backing down also and coming back, which is the momentum changes.
the fans, and golden girls promotions. and the hbo countdown show (they made me think that steve forbes realli had a chance against dela hoya)
What makes a great fight??? Knowing the fighters that are battling......... If you know them, their history, their intentions, their families and then see them go to battle IT WILL BE A GREAT FIGHT. How many times you see two Asians or two Mexicans killing each other mercifully and we don't care. But when Hagler and Hearns two people we know like back of our hand do it, it became a classic. We learn about Cotto and Margarito from the countdown show, they collide and VIOLA GREAT fight. Remember how Rosario vs. Ramirez is possible greater then Hearns vs. Hagler. Too bad we didnt know the fighters too well Andrey
Someone said great fighters make great fights and i agree... Personally, I don't enjoy fights like Gatti/ward because they're just a mindless brawl between two B- level guys... That doesn't intrigue me at all... Great fights are like Morales/Barrera 1 and Hearns/Leonard where the action is consistant and hella ****in technical...
