People talk about Floyd's Resume like it is weak or not as impressive as Manny's. Does the outcome of the fights mean as much as who you fight? Should you get more or less credit for fighting rematches 3 and 4 times? How much does moving up in weight factor in?
Resumes are often taken in context. A guy could fight the same exact fighters as another, but if he is challenging himself in the process, he'll get more credit than the other guy who is fighting those guys within his comfort zone, or if he is expected to win. The level of challenge often dictates public opinion.
Resumes are often taken out of context. If losing is less important than who you fight,Mosley has a great resume, one of the best in fact!
When it comes to boxers people are bias towards what makes them great, legends, or Hall of Famers. You have fans who love Rocky Marciano but his record and opponents are in question especially the known ones ages. Then, you have people who question Mike Tyson and his earlier opponents but forget pass so-called greats opponents. Floyd Mayweather catches the most flack because of his style but he's doing what boxers were told to do in the the gym, "Hit but don't get hit!" Gatti got praised after death as a real life Rocky(I know there is a real life Rocky in Bayonne, NJ Chuck Wepner). Many would call Gatti a bum. I see the same effort from countless boxers it's just Gatti caught the media attention and they influenced casual fans love. Boxing is selective and bias, very!
You factor everything into the equation. How you decide it is up to you, but all I like to stress is how important staying consistent is. Otherwise you look like an ******* when discussing things.
The names on Mosley's resume are sick, but yes, he lost many of his biggest fights. But a guy like that deserves credit for not taking the safe route, always willing to challenge himself against the best. It says something. Obviously it's better to win those fights vs lose those fights, but you get a real feel for how good someone actually is. With some guys, their resumes are open to speculation as to how good they really are because they either never took the challenging, career defining fights. We never get to see their ceiling.
combination of who you fight (taking into account what stage in the opponent's career you fight them in) and the outcome
If Shane didnt juice he'd have an atg resume Dlh, has an atg resume Floyd ducked everyone Mannys resume is atg worthy, although he never tested himself against a bigger legend like Williams or Martinez Lennox has an atg resume
