What makes Bradley, Alexander & Berto "slicker" than someone like Pac victim M.Cotto?

:yikes Oh my God. I think it is toooooooooooootally unnecessary for you to say "who cares what Hopkins says". That is just so unnecessary.

Bernard Hopkins has achieved great things in boxing and is a very vocal and articulate boxing personality, he deserves to be heard and he deserves better than to be written off and ignored. Who are you to say his opinion is not worth acknowledging??

That is wildly, unforgivably unnecessary, bordering on sheer evil.

To say that Berto is slicker than Cotto is really, really spliting hairs. In fact the more I think about it, I'd say he isn't. Bradley is a technician with very little pop, so his style makes him appear more defensively adroit, but let's not forget what happened to him when he fought Kendall Holt. Recovered well but won by being aggressive and consistent, not by being "slick".

Cotto's defensive skills are underrated because one, people can't get the Margarito and Pacquiao fights out of their heads, and two, because as he has slowed down he has become more hittable. And because most people, especially post-Manny, love to sh*t on Clottey, so of course if Cotto was getting hit by Clottey, his defense sucks.

    Great logic.

Fair post. Margarito may have worn down Cotto's defences by cheating, Pacquiao's speed means he can land on anyone at that weight. Cotto's defence is better than Berto's or Alexander's IMO (but still not a particularly good defence). And you're right about Bradley's approach vs Holt.

Cotto has always been easy to hit....Torres hit him at will and may have stopped him had his chin not failed him first. Corley,Judah , mosley, margarito and clottey also hit Cotto at will. He was a way better than a berto or bradley pre margarito. But now who knows? , His defense has always been poor , he dosent clinch move his head well and his power above 140 is overrated.

Nobody is going to remember Cotto as a slickster, he's obviously at his best when he is walking guys down behind his jab and murdering them downstairs. :good

But compared to the guys we're talking about here... I mean, Alexander has proven nothing, Berto went life and death with a guy Cotto would bring in for sparring, and Bradley is extremely solid but hasn't faced Cotto's level of competition.

I give Cotto tremendous credit for outboxing a still live Mosley, and doing it with the frame of a small welterweight, instead of being a physical freak like Forrest or a junior middleweight like Winky. He showed serious skill in that fight with his footwork and head movement.

I agree with all of that but I have two points.

First point is a question: What idiots have been calling these guys slick fighters anyway???

Second point: Black=Slick. Hear me out: Black fighters are shinier in the ring. Just saying. Light reflects off their skin, making them look slippery. This is true. Hence, 'slick' being used to describe black fighters regardless of their skillset. Hell, if Rocky Marciano had been black, he'd have been slick too.

    ...no racist?...
