All of the above. From a purist standpoint, I love Canelo. His body shots are brutal, counters are crispy. Chin chiseled out of stone. Brave, hard working, solid fundamentals. All around good and entertaining fighter. But we cant take the good and overlook the bad. -He had a failed drug test and offered a lame excuse, which led to a "ban" that was essentially a slap on the wrist. Despite this and the way he dumped the wbc, jose Suleiman is more than eager to kiss his ass and accommodate him. The establishment clearly wants canelo to be "the guy". He embraces it of course with his entitled diva behavior. -Although he has thus far fought some of the biggest names, he is definitely guilty of strategic match making and facing very few fighters who are prime, ranked, and active (Jacobs, mayweather, cotto, golovkin, Mosley, kovalev, even chavez were all older than him with more mileage). He is suspiciously missing several younger fighters in his division, namingly jermall (his mandatory), Andrade, benavidez, Saunders, etc. I dont believe he has beaten a single ranked fighter/belt holder who is younger than him/similar age without being shopworn. -which leads to another point about his hot water/cold water matchmaking. Sometimes he strikes gold like his fights with golovkin, Jacobs, or lara which were excellent fights to make at that time and had high demand. But other times people are scratching their head...NO ONE wanted to see glass jawed Amir khan move up 2 divisions. Rocky Fielding was an obvious milking of dazn money and grabbing a paper belt in a higher weight class to spice up his resume. The Chavez Jr fight was a black eye on the sport and a highway robbery of the fans money. Promoted as a "fated grudge match" between 2 young rivals, one the son of mexican legend julio cesar Chavez, for the glory of #1 mexican boxer. It was supposed to be an epic clash and there was tension due to chavez being so damn big, having power and the family name. It was a glorified sparring match and a snooze fest and i think golden boy already knew chavez jr wasn't going to take things up a notch but knew his name was big money. Good for business, horrible for his legacy. -then of course there's the controversial scorecards in so many pf his top fights (mayweather, lara, golovkin, etc) and judges being investigated. -He is never apologetic or open to objectively talk about these issues; always smug and blunt like he's the next big thing and anyone who disagrees with the verdicts of his wins or controversies is a hater or an uninformed buffoon. This doesn't help obviously. No one expects a fighter to say "yes i should have lost the decision" or "yeah taking peds is bad I was wrong" but if you dont give a damn about the fans/writers/sanctioning bodies complaints the least you can do is keep your mouth shut and not stir the pot. Its completely different from guys like mayweather or fury who talk trash to sell tickets. They mostly do that to their opponents and usually aren't going out of their way to be contemptuous to the fans. The most frustrating thing for me is that we STILL dont know exactly how good he is despite having been in so many big fights with big names. All the controversies and asterisks* makes it hard to know where to rate him in the present (p4p) and historically. The golovkin fights were supposed to help clarify and cement his legacy but all they did was leave us with more question marks. Suddenly leaving the middleweight division didnt help, and the sham that was the kovalev fight likewise makes it hard to asses him historically due to kovalev being possibly the weakest of the current light heavyweight champions (clearly past his best, old, with a suspect chin).
I read all three articles and all say the same. -The witness is anonymous -Other than the witness no one else has come forward confirming the story or that they indeed sparred -The witness told their story to a Soap opera magazine -No follow up investigation or reporting has been made by the Magazine or Televisa who after losing Canelo would have an interest in the story if it was indeed true -It is all hearsay Canelo also seems like the type of person who is genuinely concerned about his opponents health. Story sounds like total BS the more I read into it.
For me it's his competele lack of personality coupled with hes been caught taking steroids and only had a 6 month ban which should be 5 years for everyone
FYI 1) clenbuterol isn't a steroid 2) with clenbuterol in Mexico you have the real possibility of meat contamination 3) 5 years is a ridiculous length of time for trace amounts of something commonly found in meat in Mexico
But did you ever man up and give him credit for beating Kova "fair and square"? ............. Let the tap dance begin.
If you really believe that then you must be dumber than a box o rocks Both Reynoso's are BUTCHERS !!! They know all about the meat contamination. of all the Mexican fighters Clenelo should be the one that could NEVER eat contaminated meat. The reason Canelo isnt respected in boxing is entirely his own fault
Too many controversial cards that always -- always -- favor Canelo. Let's not forget the Floyd/Canelo judge was literally retired because of how egregious her favoritism towards Canelo was. The icing on the cake is the targeting of old fighters and his entering second in the ring walk against champions. I could probably forgive those last two points, but not the constant favoritism from the judges. I pretty much have no doubt Oscar pays off the judges. Really, the ring walks are good evidence that Team Canelo has zero issue with paying people off to get what they want.
I'll rephrase this bit... After him getting popped twice for clenbuterol... I suspect he is o. Something... Seen as you know so much about canelo can you inform me if its true that he is no longer involved in vada /wada testing?
****... If I hated canelo I'd agree you coulda summed up your post saying that you suck canelos dick?
Except you, I and everybody else knows that the excuse doesn't hold given the drastic change in his physique since he got caught. He looked straight up like a bodybuilder from 2015-2017 it was outrageous. Cotto was already a stocky and strong guy for that height and he made him look like a child. He was pumped up beyond belief in that time period and would literally start glowing red( which by the way is a real side effect of clenbuterol abuse)
