That I don’t know about. Hand eye coordination is another thing which is not down to athleticism. By way of example I have good hand eye coordination which helped me when I played cricket and rugby but there were guys who were faster than me but not as good ball players. Wilder is someone who I think grew up playing basketball but I suspect he was a horrible soccer player whereas in AJ’s case he is a very good soccer player but in the video clip you showe£ that could have been the first time he handled a basketball ball.
Hand eye coordination is a part of athleticism. So is stamina and so is explosiveness and power. All of which Wilder is far superiority to Joshuas. I think if Wilder and Joshua had equal time to learn Soccer and Basketball respectively, Wilder would do better.
AJ is a very good fighter and let's not forget he's knocked out Wlad, Povetkin, Whyte, Pulev, Martin, Breazeale, and Molina, stopped Takam, and beaten Parker, Fat Andy on points. Sure Wlad, Povetkin and Pulev were 40 plus or almost 40 and well or past their best but they were still formidable and three of the best HWs in the world at the time He also stopped the teak-tough slickster Kevin Johnson in 2 rounds. Johnson has fought everyone but he's only been stopped x 3 in 56 fights and he lasted the distance against Vitali, Fury, Pulev, Chisora, Fat Andy, Dubois, Hrgovic among many others. The only other fighter to legitimately stop Johnson is Bakole and that was in the 5th. IIRC, his other stoppage loss was on a cut. AJ tore through him like nothing This content is protected
That is where I differ with you because I think AJ would excel more and has better balance, coordination and raw speed.
That fight was literally a study into how to stop a puncher getting his shots off through movement and footwork. You're talking nonsense...
Well said Serge. Though I picked AJ to win as a boxing man I cannot lie about the evidence of what my eyes are seeing and Usyk is showing things at heavyweight I have not seen since Muhammad Ali. The improved AJ performance was not enough because Usyk could also switch up to higher gears. This is the real crux after round 9 when AJ had put a dent in him he came out did Usyk to win round 10 dominantly showing the same energy as if the fight had just started. Irrespective of who you were supporting let’s admit and appreciate a rare special talent. He takes a toll on his opponents not just physically but mentally. There were times in the last quarter that AJ did not know were Usyk was as he was still moving like a dervish. Usyk also showed he is even tougher than his friend and compatriot Lomachenko in that he is not intimidated by the physicality of the bigger, stronger man. If you put a dent in Usyk he is tough enough to adjust like Mayweather. As an AJ man while defeat hurts as a boxing man in Usyk we are seeing one of those rare breed of fighter cut from a different cloth.
In that one I confidently picked Teofimo to win because I knew Loma would be troubled by that physicality and power of the bigger man with good boxing skills himself. It ended up as a 117-111 fight for me in Teofimo’s favour
Athletic my Ass. Athletic people are not ponderously flat footed robots and they certainly don't gas after throwing 5-7 punch combinations in a round
Wilder's an even worse athlete than Joshua. What the hell makes Wilder's uncoordinated no balance having ass more athletic than AJ?
