Yes. ATG chin, runs marathons better than a fully ankle fit Whyte, has slow medium and fast twitch muscles and has mastered pythagoras theorum.
I suppose I can see why someone would not think hes as athletic as hes often considered. But implying hes not a good athlete seems a bit silly to me as well lol. Exactly how athletic do you expect a 6'5", 240lb guy to look in the ring? I think if you consider his size, it becomes more acceptable to view him as a good athlete. But yes I do think people often use the term athletic as a singular way to describe the amalgam that is being ripped, explosive, and relatively offensively coordinated.
Didn't exactly get a lot of "air' under his feet, did he? Wow. I remember watching a video of Mike Tyson trying to play basketball. It wasn't pretty, either. I think British fans got blinded by Joshua's build. He's been a decent fighter. But you can be a fat piece of garbage and still occasionally show slick defensive boxing moves. That doesn't make you're "athletic." Kids who are barely toddlers can mimic Floyd Mayweather hitting the mitts. Most athletes can jump more than a couple inches off the floor. That said, Tyrell Biggs was a better athlete than Mike Tyson and a talented basketball player. But he couldn't beat him in a fight. Joshua has been a good fighter. Great athlete? He looked pretty clumsy in the ring himself Saturday night, particularly in the later rounds, when a guy who is an athlete was twisting him in knots. You don't have to be a great athlete to be a great fighter, though.
Tua was an onrushing bull winging missiles at Lennox's head. Compared to Tua, Usyk was throwing arm punches and Joshua was still flinching. Tua knocks the Joshua who fought last night out cold. Joshua is so gunshy right now it's shocking.
For people who say AJ is not athletic, do you think Fury is more athletic? Fury is a better fighter. He's more fluid as a boxer, but would you take Fury over AJ in any athletic event? Let's name some sports and see which guy would you favor if both guys practice for 1 month. - Sprinting - Soccer - Basketball - Marathon - Swimming - Tennis - Volleyball - Rugby - Bowling Fury may win in Bowling, that's it.
Joshua is big and strong, has the long legs and power for the 100m dash (running in a straight line), that being said his athleticism is overrated just because he is HUGE.
If Fury truly wanted to, he could slim down and beat AJ in all of those besides maybe sprinting and jumping.
Did you see how he lifted two world championship belts, one in each hand, and tossed them out of the ring the way you or I might toss a couple of paper cups? He didn’t even show any strain or get winded from it either. Tell me that’s not an athlete.
