pinoys actually had the opportunity to watch pac from his childhood days up to the present. he had been in the undercard of a big luisito espinosa fight and saw him got his first world championship belt before reaching age 20. he always surprises his fans and winning fights where most are giving him little to no chance at all. furthermore, he is quite humble and inspiration to his countryman.
he has it all, Ability, Improvements, Heart, Courage, and he's a genuinely good human being i'd say he's the perfect prize fighter, i doubt theres an athlete today thats knows of Pac that doesn't admire him
The Philippines doesn't have a lot of internationally recognised personalities. The Philippino's love him for being a representative and spokesperson for their country. There's also the 'being fantastic' thing that people seem to like.
Hes an exciting fighter that always comes to fight, doesnt duck anyone, nice and humble guy etc. whats not to like,we couldnt ask for anyone better to represent boxing.
He's a boxing hero from scratch. He was a skinny little kid, a nobody, and he was not overhyped or protected. He worked hard, and started from the bottom, to the top of the local boxing circuit. He fights like he hates his opponents. He throws punches like he means it. And he's got that aura of confidence, excitement and happiness during fighter's ring entrance. It's endearing. He's like a Filipino everyman. He started out as a poor kid, working for below minimum wage as a baker, construction worker/painter, apprentice tailor, with big dreams and a lot of moxy. Look at him now. He represents hope for us all Filipinos. You keep on fighting, you keep on going. Nothing is impossible. Dont stop believing.
Pacquaio has transcended being only from the Philippines. (Sorry Philippines you have to share him now) He has fan's from all over the world who appreciate FIGHTS. Win/Lose/Draw whatever.. From the orange hair thru the Hatton fight this Sat. I'm a fan.
How could he not be a national icon, a humble and respectful fighter who continues to defy the odds with his performances.
