that couldnt be further from the truth. the mayweather team had been looking at canelo for a long time and actually tried to set up a fight with him before he got as big as he is today

What people are seeing from Thurman is speed, power, and boxing skill... And so far, intelligence!

A guy that's fast with no power will (e.g. Khan) will be an interesting match up for Floyd, but it's not likely he'll win a decision. Maidana, power puncher, no speed, below average boxing. He's both. And unlike Canelo (who I think is better) he's got footwork and is slightly unothodox like Roy Jones...

It's just an interesting match up in my opinion. He's one of the most complete fighters in the weight division outside Pacquiao, so why not?

    Honestly, I would rather see:
    Thurman vs. Khan
    Thurman vs. Broner
    Thurman vs. Maidana
    Thurman vs. Garcia
    Thurman vs. Bradley

...than any of them vs Floyd. They should all take an automatic L on their records, pay Floyd a percentage of their future winnings to retire, and go about fighting each other because it's irritating seeing all these dudes avoid each other for a chance to get uneventfully dominated by Floyd for a couple million dollars.

Thurman looks to be improving and shows a little something more in each fight.
If someone's going to beat him, they better do it soon.

Exactly. I'm a big fan of Thurman and think he has real potential, and as promising as he looks now, he's not showed signs of peaking yet. His team's matching him up properly--he's not facing walkover competition, and he's having to develop each time out.

Look up how to properly match your prospect so he gets better while still putting on interesting, crowd-pleasing fights, and how Thurman's been brought along is a perfect blueprint.

I hope they don't spoil that by putting him in against Mayweather too soon. Right now, it's too soon. Another 12-18 months, we could be looking at a different story.

any decent fighter looks good against the opposition thurman is facing, in saying that he very well might be able to pose problems for or even beat floyd but its hard to really tell that until he steps up and faces a prime elite level opponent

the same people that are calling for thurman are the same people who will call it a cherry pick when its signed, its been like this for years (mosley was my fav example)

As far as I know, he is.
We all know who he's fighting next. Mayweather has the WBA Super Duper belt.
Thurman could get a crack at the vacant title before the end of this year(in theory)

He needs to step up his competition. Technically his resume doesn't compare to Khan's or Maidana's. I know he was chasing Paulie at one time. But, he might have more of a chance of getting Alexander or Berto in the ring. Then...he can go after Maidana or Khan. Those should be enough to put him in the running.
