1. Power, killer instinct and KO record: people know that he can potentially KO the opponent at any time (very often in the first round), he's primarily looking to take the opponent’s head off (literally if possible), he's almost always desperate to get the KO and virtually always gets the KO/stoppage when he wins 2. Determination and courage: he won’t quit even if he’s injured or taking serious punishment, he's not afraid to let his hands go and his first instinct when up against it is to go for broke rather than to survive 3. Tendency to get “outboxed”: although he’s only been behind on the cards at the conclusion of three fights (Ortiz 2, Fury 2, Fury 3), several other opponents have had at least moderate pointfighting success after 4-11 rounds prior to getting KO’d, stopped or knocked down (Szpilka, Washington, Ortiz 1, Fury 1), so there’s a feeling that Wilder could lose a decision if he fails to get the KO 4. “Fragility”: even prior to getting KO’d twice by Fury, Wilder had been dropped by journeyman Sconiers and was stopped in the amateurs by Romanov 5. The degree that people dislike him: many boxing fans were not just desperate to see him lose when he was undefeated, they were desperate to see opponents go the distance with him even if they didn’t come close to winning in order to blemish his KO record and if the opponent did come close to winning a decision then they could cry robbery 6. The opponent’s most realistic path to victory: most of Wilder’s opponents must adopt a do-or-die gameplan to maximise their chances of beating him, which inherently makes fights more exciting
Wilder vs Price would have been a good fight they both destroyed Audley Harrison in the first round. Someone would be getting KTFO in that one.
Wilder has a really lethal right hand. Otherwise he is mostly mediocre. And his personality is hard to take. Everything from Bomb Squad to excuses for losing, he's kind of a jerk.
^This^ Wilder has two fights in his career (out of 46 fights) that have been decided by points; Stiverne 1 and Fury 1.
