How many fights have you had? fighters generally develop fighting styles around their physical attributes. you dont see floyd going toe to toe bc he cant take punishement and his hands are soft like tissue. that is why he is not a high volume puncher.
fair point, it is true. However, i think what the thread starter was saying was that vernon and winky were able to do it more successfully than others bc of the height advantages. But your point is understood. OScar and cotto gave shane with teh jab regardless of whether shane won or loss, he was confused at times. but without the reach advantage, shane was able to get in their to do damage to the body in both fights with oscar and cotto. I would favor s hane in rematch with cotto. the point is, shane has trouble with boxers. the guys who had the most success were guys were tall enough to effectively use their physical attributes to back up their boxing skills. floyd does not posses these physical attributes.
Man, I don't think floyd can lose to mosley unless he hits a perfectly times counter punch that lands square. I don't see him doing much more than oscar did..... I hope i'm wrong, but I just have a bad feeling.
Had Shane taken out Margarito a little earlier I'd feel much better about all this. I'm not saying Floyd's chin is suspect by any means, but he has a nice shoulder roll and excellent lateral movement that's gonna give our boy problems, I'm afraid. Not to mention outstanding counter-punching skills. I'm in his corner of course, just a little doubtful at this point. Aside from tellin' everyone what they already know I post the Margo reference cause he's far more so an open target by comparison and I feel it's just reasonable to assume Shane's gonna have to take Mayweather out b4 the last bell to pull this off, which is far more unlikely in this case considering the elusiveness of Mayweather. He's not gonna win a decision unless we see something we haven't seen from him in years upon years.
Sorry, but mosley is too old and passed it at this point to beat Floyd. Stylistically Floyd isn't a good matchup for him anyway. He'll look confused in there and lose a fairly wide UD, unfortunately. Mayweather will have racked up his best victory against an old, past-prime Shane Mosley.
Now we see where that other thread came from http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232638
Mosley can take risks against fighters that are clearly bigger and have a stylistic advantage over him, then fight them in a rematch and do better. Mosley has a ticker, he fights anyone and everyone, never been knocked out, a true warrior.
