We all have our quixotic boxing causes that we get stuck on. There are plenty of questionable decisions that we wish were reversed or that make us wonder about the 'greatness' of certain fighters. But I find it hard, despite liking both guys, to find any truly positive spin for Frazier in this second Foreman fight. He tried a new style against a more cautious George, but still it all added up to the same. And I think it always would be this way between these two guys. And believe me, I think highly of Frazier.

I fail to understand why you are making a big thing out of the fact Frazier lasted into round 5.

If you want to compare how Frazier did against Foreman in their second fight to Foreman's other opponents in the 1975-1977 time frame, note that Lyle lasted almost as long as Frazier, but provided a much sterner test, badly hurting Foreman, and coming very close to knocking him out. Then, Young did beat Foreman.

    Quality over quanity.

I agree. Swag comes up with these "unpopular' theories, then defends them stubbornly, even when repeated evidence suggests he may be wrong. Then he'll twist and bend arguments to try and make them fit at all cost. He should be a defense attorney, if he isn't already. LOL.

This opinion of his has become a sort of calling card for the OP, at least in his own mind ("as most of you know"). It gives him a sense of identity and makes people "talk" to him, so on balance this is a good thing to him.

I can't believe nobody is giving Frazier any credit for how well he did in his second fight with Foreman. Especially given his condition.

Him surviving shouldn't be given much credit.

You can't compare it to say Lyle, because Lyle came to win and almost did. Joe was lucky that Foreman had changed his style to pace himself appropriately. Pre-Zaire Foreman would have beaten him to death.

    didn't win a round IMO.

Also why prime frazier vs 1976 foreman? why not one from their first fight?

to be honest i would even pick 91's foreman over frazier

Joe was a great fighter iam a big fan but I just think that foreman had his number. Thing is foreman had nearly everyones number before or since. Only a very few I think could beat him certainly no one since Lewis had a chance .
