What next for Charles Martin? He certainly didn't disgrace himself in his loss against Kownacki who's a top contender, and gave as good as he got in that fight. It was nice to see him show some heart and tenacity and somewhat redeem himself from that dismal 'effort' (if you can even call it that) against Joshua. But where does he go now and what fights are open for him post loss?

Needs a win against a lower level opponent then he's ready for whoever.

He just went 10 hard rounds against a good opponent.

What he can't afford to do is sit out another 12 months & then come back expecting to be better after a big training camp.

    It doesn't work like that.

He's got the hard rounds under his belt. Get a win before the year is out (or early next year) & then take a winnable fight against a name in the first half of next year. If no "names" are willing to fight him, fight the best club-fighter type available. The important thing from here is staying busy until a good opportunity presents itself.

There's a shortage of viable American heavies at the pointy end of the sport. He can be one. He just needs to get fighting & winning.

he needs to pursue his rap career after that fight. he's been talking about his sideproject called Gorgeous Villian. he just doesn't have it as far as boxing goes. not disciplined enough, not skilled enough.

Martin performed a lot better than I thought he would. I thought Konacki would over power him and break with him with sheer aggression. I missed on that completely. Martin showed heart, chin and durability. Like Sandman said, he needs a few easier fights to pick up some wins and boost his confidence.

Martin really needs to develop his right jab. He just pokes with it, no power and little speed. He needs to develop and "speed" jab and a "power" jab to keep his opponents off balance.

I's like him to pick up 2 or 3 easy wins, then fight someone like Szpilka, then go from there.

He needs to stay active, have a couple of bounce back wins and fight someone like Szpilka as someone mentioned above.

Some ESPN caliber fights for chump change against C grade heavies.

Then we'll see if he is dedicated enough to get in shape for the non-threats and actually be impressive. But it'll be for low $$$ and like lots of other heavies through the years, he very well might show up in poor condition & not impress. And that in turn, makes him part of the journeyman/sparring partner status.

Get active and work his way up.

I think he can take some confidence out of the kownaki fight, he could have won that.

    Activity is a lost art

If I were him, I’d take the rest of the year off. Once 2019 comes, 3-4 fights. They can be top 100, 75, 50, 20. Stay busy and fight some names.

Martin should just pick up a few easy wins and then hope a fringe contender fights him and gives him a decent payday. He'll of course lose as he's a gate keeper at best, I doubt we'll ever see him beat any decent heavies.

Actually, that’s not a bad idea. Stiverne is a very winnable fight — Martin would be favored — and he’s also got just enough ratings cache as a former champ to put Martin back on at least the fringe of getting another title shot.

Feed him to a low level upcoming member of the bomb squad. Yeah feed him to the incredible Juggernaut Joe Joyce, lol.

Martin did much better than I expected.
He just needs to stay active and work his way up. Give it a good 4-5 years (hes 32) and see where he goes.
Hes already making good money. Invest it.
