What Next for George Groves?

Forget the back foot boxing...too vulnerable for it. Reminds me of a smaller david haye. Stamina tank runs out...because nearly every shot they throw is a power shot. IMO He needs to go in that ring with the intention of taking the other man out. And he'll take most of them out...even on the world scene. But will always struggle with the durable guys that can stay in the fight. The back foot almost cost him the degale fight...it led to him doing not nearly as good in the 2nd froch fight and caused problems in the johnson fight. Haye was the same with valuev and klitchko. It's a risky strategy...there might be losses along the way...but that would happen either way. There's not much they can do to prevent it. But it will be his most successful strategy imo because i think he's got the explosiveness like haye to beat most out there the same way as haye could.

 

Well, hopefully he'll get a fair shake now that he's been royally bent over by Hearn two times in a row.

Settle down , take a little time off , and think long and hard , , after he's done that , GO GET ANOTHER TRAINER ..AND A GOOD MANAGER , His first fight was excatly what Froch said ,, George putting on his best ever performance , and Froch his worst .

But George , had , better footwork , better speed , better boxing ability , equal punching power , and less of a chin . .

So what did he need to do , be a lot more agressive without getting hit , The plan was wrong , and above all , THE FACKING RING SIZE ,, I could'nt believe George agreed to the small ring , if i was managing him , theres no facking way , would i put or allow him in a telephone box with Froch ,

Still he was confident and he had a ego , that cost him millions of dollars , and a WORLD TITLE

 

His stamina's poor but.... his power is excellent. Any other super-middleweight with the possible exception of Kessler would be down and out with those shots Groves hit.

He'll have a good career. Froch is just better than him, but, Froch is the #2 super-middleweight in the world. That's nothing to be ashamed of.

I'd definitely fancy him over everyone else in the division (again with the exception of Kessler whose style seems bad for Groves). I'd even fancy him against Ward since he's quick enough and has the power to shatter Ward's glass.

Only drawback is, can he mentally recover from this?

 

He will be fine he didn't take a beating just one great shot

 

In peoples opinion, would Eubank jr be a good comeback fight, or is that asking a bit much? If he wins it, its a name that puts him right back in contention.

 

Groves was much slower in this fight than the first

 

Terrible fight for him :-( i think you will see him in with a journeyman next, no matter how confident you maybe a ko defeat like that will knock you, will be a non puncher, potentially a overblown middleweight

 

will never beat a prime world class fighter imo, just not durable enough. That's not to say he couldn't win a world title though. Has a chance against Abraham but I wouldnt like to bet either way. Kessler would finish him early, Bika would grind him down late or headbutt his face to pieces.

 

I would like to see him take a break then fight a couple of tune up's on the Saureland cards and then get a shot at the WBO Strap.

 

Not sure why people are saying go back to Booth. Wasnt the split down to money? Groves would look a punk if he went back and gave Booth what he wants.

 

Thats fair and honest. I was gutted for him also. But all this talk of him being young enough to come again mean nothing when you consider he's been stopped in his last 2 fights. His next opponent WILL be soft,Im sure,and probably won't be until November or December. I fear he's going to slip back into inactivity,and if he's not careful will be well out of the top 10 at the weight. They'll be hoping for a miracle that Smith beats Abraham and makes a voluntary against George. But he'd have to actually earn a shot at Abraham,and he's done nothing to deserve that. Has never beaten a world class fighter,other than Degale when they were both newish pros.

 

I thought Groves was all class after his defeat and took it like a true professional.

time to start rebuilding for groves he is below degale as it stands , everything for a raisin
