Retirement... He has nothing left... Lost his left hook and power to injuries and never was much of a boxer. I dont think he will settle for a gatekeeper role in SMW.
Most likely he'll retire. He got a decent paycheck for the Taylor fight and that's all he really wanted. I'd be very surprised for the man to continue as I can't see him ever winning a title again. I doubt he'll want to continue as a gatekeeper level fighter.
He retired for a few days a couple of months ago didn't he? When he heard his purse was going to be less than he expected? I think he'll retire. Cant see him fighting for less money now. He's to big to go down to middleweight.
Just think - if his trainers (one of the Birminhams) threw in the towel at some stage of the domination suffered to "Calslappy" - then he might still might have had more in the tank than he has now. That fight scuppered him big style.
i agree with you, but i also think when he tore his rotator cuff i feel thats the main reason his skills have diminished so much
The fights are there for him to make. But it'd be a long road back for him. 168 has a lot of young talent ready to come through and Lacy should he continue on will simply be a gatekeeper "name" opponent. The likes of Ward and Dirrel could look to fight him next to put their names in the mix.
I get really tired of this ruined nonsense. Jeff was a fighter who wasnt promoted well at all. Physically he`s blessed. But Jeff has no skills to speak. He doesnt move his head. Never uses a jab. Cant fight on the inside. Certainly cannot fight on the outside. Loads up on every punch and cant punch worth a lick unless he can hit a static target. Jeff moved up in class way to fast and just didnt have the skills to hang with the big boys. Pavlik was berated for his protected career up until his recent fights but it served him well as he learned his trade and fought diffrent styles. Lacy has not. I honestly dont know what Lacy works on in the gym but its not boxing. Jeff needs to drop down in class geta new trainer and learn how to box again and put them together. As so far his career seems largely reminiscent of David Reid.
Gatekeeper i guess if he wants to carry on with boxing. Learn to jab and be a decent test for young guns coming through. Save his money.
totaly agree. but he did dimish once he was beaten and most prolly becuase of his rotator cuff. if anybody has broken a bone in your hand it takes ages for you to put the same amount of wieght into it.
