I agree. Fighter's seem to be pushed into title fights at the earliest opportunity. They should be honing their skills for longer, like Pavlik and Kessler. Look at the Khan debacle. All his talk of being world champ in his 20th fight. At the time, Lacy was in a position to take down a fighter seen by many as being on the decline and Jeff wanted to jump straight to the top. But that was an epic fail. Looking back now, it would of been better for him to of faced some sterner top 10 competition. Beyer, Mundine, Green etc.
he should drop back into the domestic game fighters like Allan Green, David Banks and Jesse Brinkley and try and rebuild his career for one final assault at the top then retire
The rotator cuff injury did him no favors at all. Those can be career ending injurys. The kid has had his shoulder rebuilt. BUT the problem is the class Jeff is fighting in and his woeful lack of skill. His performance vs Mendoza was actually better than last night. It was cringe worthy watching Taylor punish him again and again for juvenile and amatuer mistakes with such a poor style and gameplan. Jeff has the right attitude to do very well in boxing but skill wise he`s so lacking and raw its not funny. I could probably count on one hand the amount of times i saw Jeff move his head.
