World class kid but don’t play the power trade game when you lack the power. He could easily outbox him next time and not get dragged into a brawl
Um, he got rocked with a minute left in the round. He was on unsteady legs after that. He got dropped at about the 40 second mark. Yea, the round was about over, but in the last 20 seconds Warrington took a lot of big shots. And he almost fell down with just second to go. I don´t see how there is an argument against it being fair to stop it then and there. Should he have been given the chance to continue? Yup. Could that fight have been stopped then and there? Yup. And of course hindsight being 20/20, it´s fair to say that it should have been stopped there.
There was a rematch clause in place for the fight. I think Josh is someone who prides himself on being and beating the best. I believe we'll see the rematch in the Summer - hopefully in front of some kind of crowd, Josh is definitely a fighter who feeds of the crowd's energy. Massive congratulations to Lara, heavy handed despite being rather basic; took the fight on short notice and should be IBF world champion. Commiserations for Warrington, I'm sure he'll be back.
Cute post. It's obvious Wilder is still living in your head....I imagine you must have nightmares of the big bad Boogeyman
Serious Shoulder problems, Broken Jaw, Perforated Eardrum and concussion yet his corner (father) still kept sending him back out for another round! Bloody idiots, it’s easy to be cavalier with someone else’s health and career!
He took the worst beating of his life he wont be the same after this in my opinion.Mentally and physically.
He’ll have to decide whether or not he wants to keep risking this type of damage. It takes a lot of balls for guys like him, Malignaggi, etc, who do5 have power to keep guys off of them, to keep trotting out there. Especially when they are past their prime, and theoretically lost a step or 2. Warrington was the big fave. He was the far more experienced and skilled fighter. And he got his clock cleaned by a young, crude fighter with no world class experience to speak of. If we’re following the theory that the fight game lets you know when it’s time to go, I think this may be a good example. I tip my cap to guys like him. Always outgunned, but not outgamed.
Thing is a 30 year old who’s been inactive for almost a year and a half coming back against a big punching ambitious 22 year old doesn’t sound like a good plan to me. Also 18 months can see you get old all of a sudden when you’re around 30 years old and have had a tough career.
