So, what do you all think are the best options for Kats now? Personally, I'd like to see him demote Brendan Smith to just fitness coach while they employ a new trainer to bring something new to Kats' game before it's too late. He is in great shape ALL the time, has tremendous power and only needs to improve in some areas that Smith obviously can't help him with. In the other thread I was a bit harsh on Smith, but as Kat's trainer (and given that Kats doesn't seem like he would ever dismiss Smith) he should step back a bit and advise Kats to get some fresh blood in the camp. Preferably someone with some good experience - would be great if he could get someone of a certain callibre - Roach, Richardson etc. As for fights, I'd like to see him fight Diaz again and avenge that loss. They're both on a loss to JMM and it would be good for him to settle the score / show how much he's improved. It'll erase one notch off his losses. Also think Soto would be a good fight too. He's a tough challenge but it'd be a great scrap and the perfect fight for Kats to go in with some new skills in. What do you guys reckon?
No way. He's a way to go and put a good show on an ATG on the weekend. With someone else in his corner actually giving good fight advice and teaching him something new he may well have lasted that fight and with his power who knows what could have happened - as demonstrated in the 3rd.
i wish someone would teach him to defend himself better, No one should take that many uppercuts, He took them well, but getting hit by that many is not needed.

Smith has done a great job to get Katsidis this far, 2nd in command to keep a watchful eye over Katsidis is a great idea. A leader in training the best to be their best would be awesome for Katsidis to the next step in a war amongst world warriors.
Time off. Those last few rounds were barbaric. He doesn't necessarily need to retire, but no rushing back into the lion-filled arena for this gladiator. A soft-touch opponent in the spring just to get his rhythm back and shake off rust would be a good start. Until then...rest up and heal (physically and emotionally). Malignaggi, maybe...or Anthony Peterson.
with kats style what could any new trainer change to improve him at his age , sure you could coach in more defence in head movement , footwork , glovework and fighting at a slower pace like green against flores but his offence would suffer and thats his strenght . theres all types of styles and the white heat pace , fanatical swarming/puncher style that katsidis gives us has a price to pay - take two on the chin to land one and just be tougher than your opponents , works against everyone except top notch hispanics
i would love to see him smash Peterson.he better wear a cup that cricketers wear to protect their balls though dirty stupid sound making, nut puncher.maybe a fight in England.they love him there.Murray or Rees.
this very much sums up my reasoning.. hes in his absolute physical prime and like robbie peden has gone as far as hes going to go..
