After Bakole's loss to Hunter where does he go now? And what level do you believe Bakole is at now? Obviously Hunter is not a top tier heavyweight but seemingly more than good enough to test heavyweight prospects coming through the ranks. Is Bakole at best British level with the likes of Allen, Sexton, Cornish etc. From the performance would he be outboxed by the likes of a Lenroy Thomas too?
Haven't seen the fight so hard to comment but Hunter might actually be quite good, going by his Usyk bout. Bakole should get his weight under control first though, he goes up and down like a jojo.
Bakole isn’t bad, he just isn’t experienced enough and he believed his power was all he was gunna need to beat Hunter. Hunter was very elusive, he was slipping, rolling shots, he was consistently making Bakole work. Hunter is a real threat to the contenders imo. Bakole vs Dubois is a competitive fight, Bakole vs Gorman is competitive, he needs to pursue fights with them. He would beat the crap out of Allen, Sexton, Cornish, Webb etc.
I wouldn't write him off. The guy just got 10 hard rounds under his belt against a very capable opponent. Yes, his unbeaten record is gone, but really, who cares? Bring him back against opponents who aren't quite as tricky as Hunter & he'll be back in the mix in no time. The guy has obvious talent.
Hunter would probably beat both Dubois and Gorman too so no big deal in losing. The way he lost was more a warning sign as he might lack attitude and will but let's see. Some domestic bums next to recover and then maybe a bigger name in the end of 2019.
He looks like he could be in better shape, so there's a first step. He didn't have much or indeed any of a 'plan b' when plan a wasn't working. So there's step two. If he's in against bigger slower hw's I think he will have a better chance.
Journeyman is in his future fighting prospects. That is if he doesn't give up which is a big possibility. I doubt he fights again within a year.
Yep. Hunter was a tough pick for a step up fight. Allen, Sexton, Cornish, Webb etc. make much more sense.
The heavies sure do not like bouncing back from the late ko's they suffer. Lets see if he can or if he suffers say a 20% reduction in effectiveness, what does that leave?
Agree with those saying Hunter is underrated, he won't challenge the very top guys being so small but he's got some decent skills which is why I knew he'd beat Bakole. Bakole needs to get his shoulder checked out first it was definitely dislocated the bone was protruding out before it popped back into place. Shoulders are a complex joint will take him out until well into next year I expect. I never rated Bakole myself, big guy with power, but slow hands and feet, no inside game and his finishing position after throwing is poor, he's off balance and out of position so effective combinations are going to be hard to put together, plus it leaves him open to be countered. His left hand is way too low too, it was at times like watching Danny Williams vs Samil Sam, Hunter saw the opening and was looking for it, he could barely miss at times with the right hand.
Well he was a heavy favourite only myself and a handful of people picked Hunter. Bookies had him favourite too. I didn’t think the hype matched the reality of who Bakole is and Hunter is one tough kid, to take on Usyk in your 12th fight shows his mentality. He won the golden gloves after his father was murdered, he has fought 3 undefeated guys in less than 15 fights, the kid is a warrior.
