I personally think he should move up to SMW. I think he could do ok at that weight with a lot of big fights that could be made I would give him a chance vs. Groves after one or two warm-ups. I don't think he will get many big fights at 160lbs now because he will be avoided.
He needs to rebuild, and maybe try to get another titleshot in a couple of years when Golovkin has moved up
I don't really think he is at the stage of his career where he has time to wait around to be honest. What ever he does next is a bit of a gamble to be honest but if he waits around at middle he may never get a shot at Canelo or Cotto. Same time now I think about it he could get a shot at Andy Lee or Quillin, maybe he could get a shot at BJS or Saunders if they win something. I suppose it is his decision but Michael Watson got a thrashing off the great Mike McCallum moved up and did ok at SMW no reason Murray can't have a go.
Sad to say but last night probably did his chances of getting a world shot more harm than good. Reason being , the likes of lee, BJS and cotto are going to stear clear - because they know that no matter what they hit him with they won't get him out of there. A move to SMW would make sense but it's also a strong division as it is,but he'll have a better chance of a world shot up there,
A very brave perfomance from Murray and 3 world title shots away from home. I dont agree with waiting a couple of years it was now or never. I also dont think moving up to SMW is a wise move either. If I was Murray I wouod stay at Middleweight and hopefully GGG will either go up or down weight. I don't think Murray will walk into another Title shot I know he has done a interview saying he struggles to get up for fights that no title is on the line but he needs to regroup and get some wins under his belt and then have 1 final crack. Finally maybe a change of promoter
A nice long break to recover from that fight then I think fights against guys like Eubank Jr, Saunders, Lee, Cotto etc could be good fights. Any top MW apart from GGG really.
Not sure why it's not already happened but why is he not with matchroom? His stock will of majorly risen in the public eye after last night. So I'd say matchroom is the best place for him, Hearn has a nack for getting title shots etc & with barker retired & Macklin not really on the world scene , surely there's a place at the table for Murray , I think the only mw Eddie has is Ryder who is not on the same level , and won't be for some time
There is a lot of great fights that can be made domestically at MW and SMW that still keeps him in the running for world titles.
And I'm sure his backers will get him into a mandatory position after his next fight. He has no earthly reason to avoid anybody. Solid world no. 2 and besides Froch how many of those do we ever have?!
I think maybe they both might want a warm-up fight but I have always wanted to see Macklin vs. Murray. Brilliant clash of styles and a real 50/50 fight I genuinley think those two dislike each other as well would love to see that one.
