Everyone knows that would be a good fight.:good These two could possible be on the verge of fighting out a trilogy, especially if Martinez wins a close decision when they rematch. These guys both have a lot of respect for each other, and don't mind making some money together putting an a good, tough show for the fans. What people lose sight of, though, is that Paul offered an immediate rematch, even to the point where a lot of us made reservations in Atlantic City. That rematch was like 80% done, but Martinez decided to fight for Pavlik's belts. No one can blame him, because Team Williams wasn't doing business with Pavlik 'nem. No one ducked anyone. People here just assume Paul is the one who ran from a rematch based on some stupid Pavhick spreading ridiculous lies in stupid threads. (where did he go anyway?)
I don't know what meaningful fight he could get there though right now. He doesn't have much drawing power so even considering him as an alternative for Mayweather seems like a stretch. Maybe Mosley if Shane still wants to fight at 147. I do recall him saying Williams was a possibility after he'd gotten a fight with either Mayweather or Pacquiao. I think Dzinzirduk or Sturm would be quality opponents for titles. Grab a belt and maybe have a unification with Martinez later if they don't rematch in their next fights.
Williams cuts weight very very easy still. There is no doubt if he has a fight at 147 he will make the weight. He's tall, but he is not a BIG guy. There's guys within in a few inches of him that fight several weight classes lower.
Oh my. I disagree completely. Anyway, I'd like to see either a martinez rematch or margarito rematch.
Good stuff, I wasn't aware he could still make 147 that comfortably. In that case, Shane, Cotto, and Berto would all be on the list of guys I'd like to see Paul face off against. I'd probably rank them in that same order as far as likelihood goes. :thumbsup
He owes a rematch to Martinez and Cintron, until he gives them both a rematch, then Williams talk can resume. But right now Williams has to prove himself against Martinez who I felt like he lost and Cintron who beat him 3 rounds to 1.
