So now he's established himself as the King of the Middleweight division where does Maravilla go from here?

3rd fight with Williams? At first glance it seems unappealing cos last night was a pretty conclusive win for Martinez. But they are 1-1 with each other officially...

Sturm? Felix has held is strap for quite some time and he's not with Universum anymore. Though he gets a lot of stick Sturm is a good boxer, a good old-fashioned WBC/WBA unification wouldn't be that bad.

Pirog? The argument against this would be Pirog is too inexperienced for such a fight but he's got a title and would make for a fun fight.

Zbik? Can't see many wanting to see this but the German is mandatory challenger.

Someone else? Maybe one of the young guns at 154? Lara, Vanes, Angulo?

i think we should wait for the rubber match for a year, give williams a chance to bounce back.

Lara, vanes or angulo could be fun tho

Mayweather, Lemieux or Pirog would be awesome. All three are unlikely though.

    Absolutely no idea.

It's not as if there are plenty of options.... plenty of the middles seem content to just tread water and pad their record..... at light-middle there's some action to be had but unless there's a potential encounter with Floyd or Pacquiao there's little point in moving down at his age.

Neither of those are going to fancy it, not after that left hand anyway

I don't see Sergio wanting anything less then big fights now. I think he will want to fight the best p4p not the best in his division. He's 35 now and at his peak and he has to exploit this in best possible way.

Definitely, and neither will Pac for that matter. Lemieux's team won't let him near him and I don't think it makes any sense for Martinez to fight Pirog so that won't happen either.

I think the likeliest would be Martirosyan. He's well known in the states and Martinez would be confident of handling him with relative ease. He might just take a handy fight in his mandatory Zbik too.

I didn't mention Mayweather or Pacquiao cos realistically I do not see those fights happening. If Floyd fights anytime soon he fights Pac. Arum has said Pac won't move up in weight anymore.

dont wanna see Mayweather or Pacquiao. Hate these catchweight fights.

Zbik is probably likely as its his mandatory. Its a good fight. Then I wouldn't mind seeing a unification with Pirog or Sturm.

Rematch with Williams not required. That was a KO which transforms a fighters career and I thing he is done as P4P fighter now.
I don't want him to move away from his best weight yet. He's 35 and I wouldn't mind him making a bundle against Chavez Jr.

Will Martinez get more dates on HBO without an American name, like Williams, Cinitron or Pavlik? And if he does, where would he draw enough fans to fill an arena.

That's gotta be a big factor on who he fights next. I couldn't see a Sturm or Pirog fight creating much excitement in the States. And Martinez has got some big money from his HBO fights, he'll want more of that.

From a boxing point of view I'd love to see him fight Pirog, I think it'd be a great fight. Best one out there right now, with other guys in the division still too raw.

At the risk of sounding like Kevin Keegan, I'd love a pro thats come up the hard way like Martinez has to get the chance to banjo a primadonna like Mayweather and get well paid for doing it.
