What next for Sergio Martinez?

At least you've got to 5 reasonable names now instead of just getting pissed off about Martinez not fighting someone like Zbik. Progress of a sort I suppose.

As Mand says though, I can't see many people preferring those 5 fighters to Martinez-Mayweather, myself included.

 

My first choice would be Sturm but if not him I'm going to be controversial and go for Zbik.

Get the mandatory out of the way and let the younger lesser known fighters build experience and build a name. Pirog is still little known and inexperienced give him at least another fight before pushing him into a fight with Martinez.

 

Forget these bogus titles for a minute.

Would you rather Martinez fought Zbik or someone who will give us a better fight?

 

Who are the P4P fighters he can face. Mayweather and Pacqiao. At what weights will those fights happen probably 155lbs for the World Middleweight title. That doesn't intrest me.

I didn't say top P4P fighters. I said someone who would give us a better fight. Personally, I'd much rather see him fight a Cotto or a Margarito than Zbik.

I would love to see him fight Cotto but at 154lbs. Not at catchweight for the Middleweight title. Martinez has said he won't be fighting at 154lbs again, thats why he blew up so high before the Williams fight he was getting used to the weight.

I think Zbik would be more competitive than Cotto at 156lbs.

If they have to fight a few pounds below 160 to make a fight, so be it. I don't like catchweights, but at 35 I don't want to see my man fighting mando's he doesn't need to.

 

Next time out, Martinez can fight whoever he wants. He's earned it after his last 3 fights. It's not his fault he has no big names left in the division.

Martinez is the Middleweight champion. The WBC is irrelevant. He is No.1 with every website and magazine and champion with the ring. So he should defend his title against a top 10 Middleweight at 160lbs. Pirog, Sturm, Sylvester, Geale and Golovkin would be my preferred choices but the are occupied and i don't wanna see him on the shelf until July 2011. So get his mandatory, which is against a universally recognised top 10 fighter, out of the way, look impressive and then get a unification.
